Planning to get away from gmail and all things Google. Anybody have suggestions on which provider to use? I have found a couple, Proton and Fastmail that have nominal fees and have good reviews etc. Any comments on these?
I'm open to any suggestions or shared experience.

Thanks

My ISP is Xfinity/Comcast and they provide a very good email service. I'd bet your ISP does, also.

Protonmail.

Runs out of Switzerland, under their very strong privacy laws. Strong encryption. No data harvesting. No issues whatsoever.

Free, unless you have large storage requirements. They offer a good VPN as well.

I switched from gmail to PoBox about a year ago. It is very reasonably priced and I've been very happy with their service.

www.pobox.com

$50/yr to avoid using any of the free services is well worth it, IMHO.

Chrome blocked me from registering so I downloaded and installed FireFox then had no problem registering.

So, a question about this.

I’ve got the same hotmail address I created back in 1992? I never went to gmail or any of the other platforms. So everyone I know knows where to find me.

Is there a simple way to switch over to a proton email, and then notify my contacts AND all the logins for the websites and apps I’m on???

You can get a free protonmail account. Highly private, they don't keep logs of your correspondence and if you communicate with others that have a protonmail account, it's encrypted.

Yes, you could go into your Hotmail account and set up Email forwarding to your new account. I don't have Hotmail, so I don't know the exact menu items. Perhaps someone else can chime in if you have trouble.

While Protonmail can be free, in order to add your old e-mail addresses or download your contacts, you must upgrade to their paid account. That cost 4 Euros a month. For what it does, it looks worth it.

Thanks for the recommendation.

No there's not. But think of it this way, you should go through all your online presence anyway and cancel all the unless accounts. You will also orphan all the spam lists you are on too.

Very easy setup and it looks pretty user-friendly.

Any conservative based email carriers out there? What about search engines?

And Protonmail's default set-up is way handier at organizing and keeping track of stuff. Talking light years ahead of gmail...

I've had similar problems, figured it was Chrome

I'm sure that most are aware, but Firefox, or it's ceo has issued a strong statement condemning all conservatives. Says they "need to be silenced, and more".
