Dammit. Now I'm gonna have to get that 25-06 barrel after all! .334 G7 looks better than a 19yo pair of titties....

Go figure. The quarter bore crew is excited about the new heavy bullet developments while the 270 crowd is pissed off Winchester is trying to introduce the same in the 6.8W. Oh well, looks like it's time for a .257 something build laugh

Great!!! but will this bullet kill an Elk??

Got a 700 LA here waiting for a new barrel, got 7 Wby brass. How about using 7mm brass necked to 25, 7.5 twist PAC-NOR. Or should I just go with a 257 Wby. fast twist?? Lots to think about..Maybe a 25-06, 26 inch tube..gotta get some of these new bullets..play with seating in dummy rounds...

Looks like Pete and others got their wish...

If anyone is going the fast-twist .257 bore diameter route:

No reason for the 25 not to have the BC of others.

I haven't sit down with all the BC & recoil numbers, expected barrel life, etc. etc. but should be in the running with the rest.

25's can kill things, BTW.

I mentioned this in another thread.....I am hoping someone will take the 6.8 Western case and neck it down to .257 caliber. Maybe Winchester will eventually...yet doubtful

Be advised, you're in the "long-range" forum... Barnes ain't never made thing (!long-range) or worth a fuuck period...

Anybody do the math on that yet...what's the minimum twist at expected velocities?

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

You're going to have to supply your own samples for comparison. As it is, my memory is getting a bit fuzzy.

My .257 bee has a 1/9 twist Bartlein. Wondering if this would give me enough rpm's?

Per Bergers stability factor chart, you just make it. 9.25 is marginal. Look it up.

Thanks, I forgot about the calculator.

With a recommended twist of 7.5, you think it will sell? I think the twist for the majority of .25's has kept high BC bullets from being developed (able to sell).

Might be a custom barrel only bullet.

i think my 257 Creedmoor with a 7 1/2 twist barrel is going to shoot those Berger 135 gr 25 caliber bullets great. i also have to agree what Judman posted, i too have never have had Barnes bullets that shot very well at long range ever either.

At sea level and 3200 fps your stability factor is 1.17
Minimum Twist Recommended: 1 in 7.75"

I don't know about that. My 30-378 Bee slings 175 LRX's at 3450 fps. It shoots flatter than Kate Hudson!
