We don't have kids so of course my wife works.

Paid on the 1st and 15th?

Neither of us makes big city $$$ but our cost of living is low so we do okay.

Hell up until 5-6 years ago wife made more money than me!

And luckily she's got the whole 401k, health insurance deal along with the salary.

That and she doesn't spend much AND keeps our house clean as can be... AND takes really good care of our dog pack!

Better get my lazy ass back to work....

My wife works 2 days a week. Most of it goes into savings and investments for her retirement. She also has a pension plan and a good health insurance plan.

Everything is paid for except for our investment properties which produce a positive income flow in addition to their mortgages.

She should be set up fairly well for her retirement years.

I actually don't know when she gets paid. It's direct deposit and the numbers on the bank account just change occasionally.

One day this place talks about how rich it is from saving and investing. The next day, it talks about the best place to buy used shoes. What's the point of getting rich if you are just gonna wear used shoes.

Well,...we're definitely not rich. But we've saved and invested for the past 20+ years and its put us in a financially comfortable situation.

Wife gets paid when she uses the card to buy something. She also keeps the house in tip top shape and has always been thrifty with the money. From 2012 until this last school year she was the grandkids day care, while their parents worked. Before my granddaughter was born we decided as a family each of our responsibilities moving forward, did not want the babies in a day care facility. It worked out fantastic as the kids really grew well under her nurturing and tutelage. She hardly spends money on herself so her wages are really low.

I get paid when a job is done.

I'm in the opposite boat. Until 5 or 6 years ago I out earned the wife. Not anymore.

And Ren, I have no idea what day the wife gets paid.

I get my soup pot filled weekly by big Gov. For a while this summer I was ballin'! Uncle Donny was throwing the cash around. $70+k to drink beer, chase the kids, and fish.

Then it was back to work, now back to the soup line.....

Well for you guys that aren't retired yet you need to know 1 simple fact up front. That is this after you retire you never ever get a day off, it s tough but I'm handling it. Mb

You sound bored.

Renegade50: The VarmintWife has retired TWICE now!
She worked at and then bought/owned a very successful business out on the west coast. She sold that business after 25 years of ownership and 'we" retired to Montana (our dream).
Little did I (we!) know that the VarmintWife was (is?) a "workaholic"!
She did not stay retired for one year til she took a job with the local school district here in Montana.
Finally this year she retired "again" with 23 years in the Teachers Unions pension plan so she gets that retirement (pension) check on the last business day of the month.
Her very healthy social security check has been coming mid-month for 5+ years now - so she has money coming in fairly often.
I agree with your philosophy as I retired when I was 50 years old and kick myself in the ass every day for NOT retiring sooner.
Bottom line is you only live once and retirement was/is so much better than w-o-r-k-i-n-g!

VG, I hear ya. Retired at 54 and went back to work just for health insurance. D-u-m-b. I had been away from the a-holes in American corporations for a while and couldn't believe how stupid they'd gotten since.

Should have just paid the higher premiums. lol

My wife and I work for different divisions of the same company so we share paydays, every other Friday. She makes more money than I do, which is saying something, and I love it.
