Sticker shock

Wow! Found a used 870 LH 12ga express and thought it would be cool field gun for my lefty son. The guy won’t budge off $750, and said price will only go up with the bankruptcy.
Good thing I at least have a 12ga BPS for him.

BPS is a fine firearm- no way I'd pay $750 for an 870...

I have both and while I prefer my 870 it is only because I have had it since 1976. Found a 20 ga left as well for a lot less a couple years ago, so I'd keep an eye out as they pop up here and there. The BPS is for turkeys since it is camo.

You have a much better shotgun than the 870. I don't think he's going to get anywhere close to $750 for it. Buy a spare barrel for the BPS and he'll have an all around gun that will last him forever.

I've shot 870s for since I started shooting. Picked up a LH version a few years back and could not get used to the port on the left side so I sold it and stuck w my RH versions.

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I agree....although I don't have any 870's now I've also been shooting them since I started shooting and have handled LH 870's and hey just seemed so odd to me I wouldn't want one. Both my Benelli guns are RH and seem as natural as can be.

I've got a LH 870 express that's 20yrs old. Decent enough only complaint would be lack of model options beyond 28' 12g options. Nice enough at 300 ish for an express but nuts at 750. The BPSs are nice and well finished but heavy. Fine for waterfowl but lighter is better on long upland hunts.
$750 puts you in spitting distance of some nice semi options, benelli montefeltro, franchi affinity, used Rem 1100s and 1187s.
Find an older LH 870 wingmaster, much better fit finish and slicker than snot when broken in

Yeh there are a lot of better options out there for $750. My local gun store has new BPS with assorted camo patters for $799. I have owned a lot of shotguns and I have yet to find one that I like better than the BPS for lefty shooters. I agree with Rook85 that they are on the heavy side but I don't do a lot of upland hunting. Best of luck!
