The rocket is a Saturn I-B. It was used to test the Apollo Command and Service modules before putting them on a Saturn V for the moon. It was also used to launch Astronauts to the Skylab space station in the 1970's and to dock with Soyuz in the 1970's. The current Falcon 9 built by SpaceX has a little more payload to low earth orbit than the Saturn I-B, and it is reusable.
