Fosteology - Very pleased with the rifle. Shoots reload 300 gr A-Frames into nice little groups and really hammers stuff. Have had it over twice now with 2 cape buffalo and a bunch of plains game.

What an amazing trip!! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Now, is that what they call a "plains game" hunt? Gorgeous animals. Do you get to return to the states with the capes and headgear? What do you do with all that meat!?!

Could you have pulled it off with irons and a 45/70 or 348 Winchester lever gun?

I have always wanted to take a trip like that, but I doubt it'll ever materialize, monetarily anyhow. I've always considered just saying eff it and putting it on my C/C. Only live once! ...but I can't bring myself to do it. So again, thanks for sharing your trip with us!!

Great photos and sounds like a great trip. Really outstanding trophies. Not many places you can go and get that variety and quality. Your buff is really classic, but to see roan and get sable really makes this a special safari. Congrats!

J23 - This would be considered a buffalo/plains game hunt. Hunt buff first and plains game as time allows or what the bush offers up. Capes and headgear comes home, with extra fees for dip and pack and shipping and custom broker fees. Buff was at 35yds so yes irons are totally doable for buffalo. My shot was tight and scope really helped to identify an open lane. Lots of people go with iron sights. No personal experience with 45/70 or 348 Win, so will leave for someone else to opine.

Hatari - Thanks for the kind words. Previously saw you have hunted in Zambia, I think with Jan duPlessis? That is on my wish list.

NDHunter, thank you for sharing and especially thank you for supporting their economy during this Covid crud. I’m sure they are really hurting over there with lack of foreign hunters.

We postponed our trip to September 2021, I really wish we could have kept our 2020 date, I have to imagine the economy in Namibia is really hurting from this Covid.

Question regarding bringing headgear and capes home, did it fly back with you or ship at a later date? When we go, I’m not interested in any taxidermy per se... We do want to bring the horns and hides home to tan though.
