I have used 777 powder and primers and have never had a misfire.

How about the crud ring, did it seem to help eliminate it ?

I've used them with loose Triple Seven. IME they may reduce the crud ring but not dramatically

I used 777 in a couple of sidelocks with regular caps. A quick couple of strokes with a brass brush will knock the crud ring right out. In an inline, I’d do the same and use regular primers instead of paying a fortune for the special ones.

Regular #11 or even musket caps aren't hot enough to form a crud ring with 777. The crud ring is significant with 209 primers

Maybe not like 209s, but definitely was there. I expect the brush would still work. Have some to burn up, so I’ll find out for certain.

I’ve used a lot of 777 in inlines. Found it always creates a fouling ring where the powder column rests. I use a damp patch of Ballistol/water (50/50) followed by a dry patch after every shot. It keeps the fouling down and you can shoot all day without worry. No brush needed, just your jag/seater and a 2” square cleaning patch. It works for me.

Done that too, but the brush eliminates the need to dry-patch. Whatever works, works.

Colvin I actually did some primer test a few years back. I tried 777 primers , CCI , and Federal 209 shotgun. Best groups were with the Federal. I think the CCI and Federal are hotter than the 777 but they all work .
