Have a chance to buy one of these from a friend, do any of you have one, and do you think $500.00 is a fair price ? Rifle is in like new condition. Thanks.

Considering they are no longer made and getting rare I'd say so. There's a barrel only on eBay for $750 right now 😳

Buy it. You probably won't find another. I've been looking for one of the target versions in 38/55 for years. Cool guns.

Get it quick!! Had one years ago and let it go as I didn't have the time then to work with it on reloading to get the maximum out of it. But, is a cool rifle and wish I had it now.

I really like mine in 38/55. It won’t shoot .375 bullets...perfect keyholes. .377and .378 bullets do really well, especially those from Cast Performance and H-4895.
I also bought a 45/70 and it’s pretty light for a 45/70, i.e. it has a pretty good wallop on the rear end.

Not a W&H,
But I have a H&R buffalo classic in 45-70 I plan to put on the block this year. Is there any difference in the 2, price, or otherwise?

I had one a few years ago in 38-55. I shot black powder out of mine. On a good day for me it would hit standard gongs at 400-500 yards. a lot of fun for the money.

They are. I had the W&R years ago. Sold mine for $475 without all of the box, papers, sight inserts, etc.
So, if this one has all of the goodies I would say go for it.
Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!

Bought it today. It has never been shot, and immaculate. It is a Harrington and Richardson, not Wesson. Will post some pics soon, but looks like all the rest I assume !

You're gonna love it!! We have three 22" barrel H&R 45/70's in the family and they all shoot under an inch when we do our part. That's LOTS of info over on Graybeard's. I've never even heard of an H&R 45/70 that didn't shoot great.

Get a PAST pad. Mine kicked the shot out of me even with trapdoor loads.

You'll have to go to GBO Reloaded, the new forum Greybeard and Matt started after the old GB was sold

There are actually two Graybeard sites now. The original was sold. GBO Reloaded has all the old site posts and info and is run by Bill and Matt.
