I have a duratouch shotgun (Winchester sx3). After the class action lawsuit, I sent it in and they removed and re-dipped it in a non-duratouch finish.
They did a good job. Took about 3 weeks or so, but was glad to have it resolved.

My CZ 455 SS has a similar finish. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and pick up a walnut one while the getting’s good. $125.

Brake cleaner is acetone in a aerosol can. No type of paint will stand up to acetone for very long. But if a paint is sticky acetone "kills" the oils that are bleeding out from the stock or the paint itself and making the paint sticky. By removing the paint with acetone it also goes a long ways towards "killing" the oil in the stock, which in turn promotes adhesion.

Update: Browning did an outstanding job refinishing my duratouch stock. They received it on Dec.15th 2020 and I got it back January 27th. 2021. It looks beautiful ! They made it convenient and did it in less time than they said they would. Outstanding Browning- thank you.

I tried for hours to get the sticky mess off my X-Bolt and finally gave up. I replaced it with a Boyd's laminated wood stock and it worked out really well. The added weight and better recoil pad made the 300 Win Mag much more pleasant to shoot and because my gunsmith bedded the action and floated the barrel, the accuracy improved a bit as well.
Start young, hunt hard, and enjoy God's bounty.

I have one Browning and it is a real tack driver. It is a 2007 A-Bolt 2 with Mossy Oak Brush Dura-Touch Coating. It is extremely sticky and has been living in the gun safe for several years. I am going to send it to Browning Monday afternoon. Thanks for the heads up on this.
