Is anyone surprised that certain guys get the book thrown at them for a big nothing that the feds milk into mandatory prison time, and other guys just seem to walk away with barely a scuff on their reputation, and step right back into positions of influence? There is a name for that sort of thing when it happens in government. Cora Pshun is her name.

Based on some of the judges comments, I believe he had a sympathetic judge when it came to sentencing. The FBI going back to the Hoover days has a well documented history of covering their butts and looking out for their own.

He is barred from future Federal Employment, as for contracting, if a company had a criminal violation on their record, they are barred for 3 years from the date of the felony from getting any federal contracts. I don't know about individuals.
