This comes up ever so often. I carry a couple ( not at once ) Rat 2 , Kabar dozier, sometimes just a case sodbuster. Prolly my favorite is the kabar, rat 2 being a close 2nd. Not sure how long the kabar has been available with d2. I picked one up the add to the rest. Solid lockup. Maybe the coating with last better than the rat2 does. Last week smkw had them for ~$27.

After seeing the Rat Model II praised here several times I ordered one in . Nice fit and finish and the D2 steel is nicely formed and sharpened. The liner lock is solid and there is no wiggle in the blade, a well built knife. I can't warm to the sharp edges on the carbon fiber handles though. This knife will be given away at our next event.

Another vote for the Rat 2 in D2 steel. (R2D2) A bargain.

Obscenely low price on a solid little knife. It was my folder until I lost it. Another outstanding one for the price is a S30V folder at LA police gear, think it runs about $45-50 and is a lot of knife for the money.

I've been carrying the Ontario RAT-1 for the last couple years as an EDC. Not even the D2, just the basic AUS-8. I think it was $26.00 or so. Makes a good daily use beater. Easy to sharpen, staying tight. If it gets lost or broken....oh well.

Rat 1 in D2. Nothing close that I've found.

Rat 1 is a tad big for me. Rat 2 is a great pocket size. I like em. This kabar is working great too.

I have a Kabar D2. It works okay as an EDC but it very light and you sort of forget it is there.

I alternate carrying between a mini-Grip in 154CM for $91, a R2D2 for $38, and a Buck 112 Slim Pro with micarta and S30v steel that I got on sale for $65. I like all three, but for a reason I can't really explain, I prefer the Benchmade and Buck to the R2. The Buck is a steal at that price with those materials and that steel. I'd recommend any of the three.
