I expect the government will keep the border shut until the end of March at least. As many of you know, they are going 30 days at a time. My belief is it won't be open until the end of April or even May. A lot depends on how well the COVID numbers drop and how many folks get vaccinated on both sides of the border. Keep this link and you can check from time to time on border closures. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/wizard-start

It may be, proof of a Corvid shot will be the new passport, like a Rabies shot for a dog.

I actually do not expect things to change much in that regard (might get tighter yet and should for air travel) until the majority of the population are vaccinated. Given the supply problems we are facing with vaccine supply that may take longer than originally announced. Perhaps the tail end of the cruise ship to Alaska season.

why should it get tighter for air travel. This thing is a scam people. Its a version of the flu that kills some. Just like the flu.
I swear people have no sense.
If it would have been left open to start with it would all be over by now...

If it would have been left open to start with it would all be over by now... Well, it's not up to any of us. Whether you think this is contrived or believe it is a genuine problem, none of us can end it. I realize your frustration, but there is little to do but wait.

And if air travel had been stopped at the beginning, instead of pandering to the airlines, we wouldn't be dealing with this today. Travel to and from Wuhan continued with full knowledge of the potential consequences. The sheer stupidity of current restrictions on travel by car while air travel continues is difficult to understand. When rules are stupid, it is easy to see why people might get a little tired of them. GD

Its an impossible situation. I have talked to some lodge owners that have already sent out emails to all US clients that they wont be allowed in this summer. They dont KNOW that, they are just assuming the worst. We are optimistic and havent canceled any trips and we are booked solid. Hopefully they will resolve the issues and get things opened up soon. If not there will be many lodges on the market by June. Most simply cant survive another year without income.
Im not an anti vaxer although I wont take this one because of the autoimmune issue. Some doctors are warning that it has the potential to cause autoimmune disease and since I already have one Im not willing to risk it. My wife works home care and yesterday she took some elderly clients to get the vaccine, sure enough one of the questions asked was whether they had autoimmune issues. So there must be some truth to that. I dont see how the vaccine will help us get back on track anyway. Contrary to what many believe, it will not protect you from getting covid; all it does is give you a 95% chance of having mild symptoms. Then they tell us that 98% of people have a mild case anyway so i fail to see any benefit. The vaccine doesnt stop you from spreading it either they tell us, so again I fail to see any reason to take it or how its going to get us back up and running again. Maybe Im missing something ??

Ahhh! The school desk thing. I remember that. Didn’t need a bomb shelter if you had a desk. LOL. If wasn’t correct to simply tell you to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye. The mask is right in line with the desk. Last year I want to motor thru Canada up to Alaska again but that couldn’t happe. Now I want a moose hunt but I’m guessing that won’t happen. I’m 68 and not getting any younger. Hope this nonsense ends soon. Edk

Again they lock the barn door after the horse run off. In England they found the new variant in November. We are clamping down harder on air travel now, two months late. In Ontario, the UK variant is being community spread. . SFU modellers are warning if the UK variant gets in and it is 40% more contagious ( it's 55% ) all 'ell is going to break loose in March.. Simon Frazer is the university I went to , I trust those math types, they were much smarter than me.

Given the kook running the country I see my 2020 hunt (NE BC) deferred to 2021 hunt being deferred to 2022, assuming the outfitters survives. I lived up there 2005 - 2010 and is was a very different place it appears.

The good news is that a lot of us are starting to work together and push back. Outfitters as well as other businesses that have been decimated. The fact that some high profile politicians have tested positive AFTER getting the vaccine recently will hopefully open some eyes to the fact that the best course of action is to get on with life. They are not going to stop it no matter what they do. We have excellent interventions now with ivermectin and HQ, for those that need it, but the fact is most wont have any problem with the virus. Getting that message out has been slow, but its gaining momentum now. Hopefully they will abandon the strong arm tactics and let us get back to work before the summer season hits.

I do not see Canada getting ahead of the COVID problem through vaccinations by this fall. So without a good vaccination program the only solution each of the provinces will have is isolation / shutting down of parts of society. So far each province / territory has taken a different approach with some like the NWT being 100% isolated, others forming bubble groups (maritime provinces), Alberta keeping flights open and a need to be tested before and after entry. I think COVID fatigue is setting in and people want a more balanced approach to what is shut down and what can remain active. Perhaps with more active testing and quicker turn around on results areas will return to normal. Some things that have been done make zero sense. A draw hunt on the Wainwright base was fully cancelled yet a draw hunt on the Suffield base went ahead. The news is starting to pick up on the really bad job our Federal leadership has done but there is not much that can change now as vaccine suppliers can only produce so much and contracts are in place. The big unknown issue is the new variants and if they spread. I read an article on a lady that is infected in NZ - she tested fine on arrival, fine after 14 days and then the infection showed up 10 days later -- so day 24. Here are a few articles on what the press is starting to say: https://www.macleans.ca/opinion/the...fighting-efforts-are-among-worlds-worst/https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-trudeau-mia-amid-news-of-further-vaccine-delayshttps://edmontonsun.com/opinion/col...overnments-bungling-of-covid-19-vaccines

The variants are mutations of the virus . Each time someone gets a infection, it's another opportunity for the virus to mutate. More the infections, more likelihood of mutations.
