I usually just go sit outside in 90-95 Tn summers shade tree with the dogs.

I dunno man, Tennessee in the summer sounds pretty hellish. I've never been, just pure speculation.

In the Summer I like to be cool, so it stays on 70. In the Winter I like to be warm, so it stays on 70 then too. Fan runs 24/7 to keep the air circulating.

Spring and Fall, we open the windows and turn it off, except usually leave the fan running.

Winter 70 downstairs and 68 upstairs in the bedrooms. Summer 72 everywhere. We have geothermal so a degree or two one way or the other or screwing with it between day or night makes little difference. When we first moved in we used to have automatic timers to turn everything down when we were at work. I actually think our bills were higher bringing it back up to temperature than just leaving it alone.

If I never saw a day or room warmer than 68-70 degrees again I’d be one happy mofo.

Dang, I pay more’n that for the way I live, the base rate is like $72.

But, my water bill is almost equal at around $65. Some Republicrat commissioner (that I voted for and allowed to put a sign in my yard) pushed through a "minimum usage" bill that made my water bill what it is now, instead of the $16-20 it was prior, based on my real usage. This all after I had installed all kinds of water saving strategies in my house.

Rinos on the local level are still Rinos. Watch them like a hawk. We immediately voted this old buzzard/basturd OUT.

I've got kind of an opposite story.

Used to have these 2 waify South American bitches who had the cubbie right outside my office climb up on their desks and stuff paper in the AC vents. Well, when the other skinny twits also picked up on that tactic, lo and behold, this blew the AC unit on top of the roof. Now, this is a 12 story building, mind you. I/We were on the 10th. The AC guys troubleshooting the problem were thorough, and found all the crap stuffed in the vents. Think about what that cost the company. The temp in that office was never below 75 prior.

My boss, the IT director, was livid when he found out the truth. I would have been, too. Stayed as far away from those 2 as I could after that. Didn't want to get hit with overspray. smile
They were both what most of the old farts here would consider hawt, so they managed to survive. Lol.

My heat sources consists of the normal forced air furnace

which hasn't run all winter...but set at 66* if we go away overnight

Greer Mini Split heat pump system in the south sun room (110 power)

This starts up at sunset to 9-10 am set at 74*

Basement has my NG 'Pot Belly' 28K BTU that I light at dusk---till 9-10 am next morning

Natural heat flow comes up basement stairs and vents in floor above stove

The key is the house having a south face & lots of windows...the sun shines in Utah

Gas bill ? $91/month adjusted twice a year (includes my 1500 sq ft garage)

Power is $96/month also adjusted twice a year (equal payment plan ) garage too (same meter)

pic.......sun coming up looking towards the cold north west

I was told yesterday that the “Nest” thermostat, that I guess one can control from their phone via WiFi, can also be controlled by the gummint in an energy crisis.

Dunno if that’s actually true, but sounds right. crazy

It can FEEL brutally cold here outside from time to time...20's with 90% humidity, but it rarely lasts more than a couple of days. We try never to turn the heat on, but good insolation only goes so far. Ask me about August.

65/60 in the winter and 75 in the summer. I don’t do well in the heat. Texas would probably kill me.

At the farm house, 63 degrees in winter. Takes about 400 gallons of propane to keep it there. When I come inside in winter anything more than 63 feels like a hot house.

No thermostat in the summer. Summer, open the windows at 9 pm, turn the window fan on, and it's back down to the low sixties inside by morning. I'm ok with that.

At the house in town? Whatever the redhead sets it on. I just take off about half my clothes and find a cool spot in the basement......

Wife sets thermostat hot and I open the window behind our bed and crank a fan. Seems to work for us so far. Probably adds something to the bill since the thermo for that heat pump is in our room.

Heck, I looked out the bathroom window for something and apparently there’s no lock. No big deal I’ve no idea if we even have keys for the house we bought 4 years ago and with glass sliders everywhere on all levels it wouldn’t matter. More important, the window was open 4” and must’ve been since we moved in or something. Never open those blinds myself.
