My wife just showed me a picture of a 2 story outhouse that sat beside a 2 story hotel in 1941.
It said on the top you walked in a little farther than the bottom to use it. Said a through took refuse behind man on bottom.
I'm not trusting that.
Would you use bottom floor unit?
This is the kind of crap off Facebook that she finds.

There is another one in MT. It dates back to the gold fields. The hotel is still in operation during the summer tourist season. Virginia City MT.
