Accubonds are great. Hard to go wrong. I’d go with what shot best.

Bugger, you may try a few of these 115 NPT’s as they’re reportedly shorter than standard. Who knows. Price is right.

I bought a couple hundred of these too. I’m hoping they’ll shoot out of my 250AI with a 10 twist. It did not like the 117gr Hornady btsp (which are for sale) but shoots 115bergers alright? Hoping the shorter length stabilizes better but they’ll have to be seated way off the lands I’m thinking.

If it was my project, I’d be making sure rounds were concentric. I use a Sinclair gauge. They may jump OK, some bullets do better jumping a bit.

Because it might be a significant distance to the lands?

The .250 Savage prefers 100 grain Partitions (bottom), but is a little wishy washee about Ballistic Tips (Top).

Have all I need, the rifles aren't belt fed. And anyway, I sold them both awhile back.

Weatherby chambers have free bore, bullets jump a bunch. If the free bore area is min spec and not too loose, and if the rounds are concentric, it may shoot really good groups. Some Wby rifles are very accurate, jump notwithstanding.

The acid test is at the range. But having concentric rounds never hurts. JB's written some good stuff on that subject.

Snagged a few bags when SPS had them several months ago & thanks to your post, doubled down on more including some 120’s. I haven’t shot the .545 ogive yet but with old school NP 115’s my little Ruger RL Bob edged just slightly below an inch but nothing earth shattering.

SPS has both 115’s & 120’s still available at $19.95/50.

They must have a good supply. Surprised they haven’t sold out.

Any of you not well supplied, now would be a good time to pull the trigger on a great deal for generally hard to find Partitions. And from what I’m seeing, Partition prices are going up. These are priced right.

I saw different weights of .257 Partitions at my local farm store today. My Roberts doesn’t shoot them worth a schit and obviously others don’t either else they wouldn’t be on the shelf these days. $13 shipping is outrageous unless you’re buying a lot of stuff. Happy Trails

I tried the standard versions of both the 115 gr. and the 120 gr Partitions and got usable but not the average accuracy I get from the similar weight bullets from Sierra and Speer. I wonder if the shorter ogive would fix that? But in reality I use my Roberts as a deer rifle and if I need to use a Partition will use them in either a 6.5, 270 or a 30 caliber as I have plenty of them in those bore diameters.

That's interesting about the shorter ogive 115 NPT's. Wonder why they made a batch like that. Would be an interesting story, no doubt.

If someone gets those shorter 115's, it would be interesting to see how they shoot, compared to regular 115's.

I guess the 120's are std. ogive. NPT's are not the most accurate bullets in my rifle, the 120's out performing the 115's, so that's what I got. I guess I should have gotten a few of these 115's just to see if they shoot any better than the ones I've used.

Boy I am stocked up now. I think I have an entire ammo can of 257 bullets. Got brass too so of course I am building another 25 a Weatherby with a 1-7" twist, that ought to put the Noslers to the test. If rotational spin increases lethality, and I believe it does, the Noslers ought to be rip snorting game getters with the faster twist.

Doesn't always work this way but in 25 caliber I think the 115 grain bullets are a sort of cut off point between a 10 and a 9 twist barrel. The 115s and longer have worked more consistently in a 1-9" barrel for me. If this is true the slightly shorter 115s may work better in the 1-10" twist barrels than the regular 115s. It's a theory anyway. Shilen's recommended twist rates for 25s supports this as well as the Berger twist calculator which is conservative.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of this offer. I don't think we'll see prices like that on Partitions any time in the future, maybe never.

Show pictures of your new build when you get it put together. Sounds interesting. I've heard that the faster twist does affect terminal performance.
