Looking at a Marlin SBL in 44 mag. It is a Remington gun but seems to function just fine. The only ones I can find for price comparison are the 45-70s.

1) What is this worth in almost new condition - no box

2) What issues did the Remington guns have?

Search----Completed Sales-------

$1700 to $2600 for 44 mags...sold this month...crazy & no thx

RemLins were notably bad from 2011---2015 ish I'm told

Past 5 years or so they've improved...but now owned by Ruger

Just purchased a NIB 44 SBL for $999 before tax. Maybe i got lucky? Bought it at Ace Hardware.

I havent shot it but the action is super smooth but trigger is horrific. I did a funtion check of loading rounds in magazine tube and running thru rifle. Sixth xartridge hung up the lever and lifter and whole mechanism tight. Finally got it out and it seems fine now. Trouble while machining is exact and precise theres very sharp burrs and knife like corners on back and sides of bolt, internally, and around the ejection port was scary sharp. I took some small stones and broke all the burrs and sharp edges that should have been done at the factory. Now its way way better. I will next installna trigger kit, break over the edges on the enlarged lever and it will be ready to fire then. I really like the larger lever.

Remember when you smooth these up, your not so much removing metal but more rounding or "breaking" over edges and with stainless its painless.
