Hi,....I posted this in marlin talk....then I saw this thread for 336's
https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/15512455/1949-336a#Post15512455

anyway Iam in the process of disassembly to clean and repair a small crack at bottom of tang on buttstock....this rifle one has the one barrel band ....so no screw to take out spring etc.....I have the 2 barrel band screws out and the screw that holds the spring tube to barrel...my problem is the forearm is very tight to come off....it moves slightly forward and in the front it seems like you would just lift it off...the wood is angled in the frt so that it goes by the tube boss.....very tight there and dont want to break it...I added a pic of forearm end

also since there isnt a screw at the end of the tube....how does the spring come out?....all the videos I see have a frt barrel band and the end of the tube screws off

any help would be most welcome
Thanks al

I finally got it....had to use a wood wedge between barrel and tube to get it up about 3/8in so the tube and forearm could come forward out of the receiver...
Thanks al

Glad to hear it. The first time I pulled the forearm on my 50s 336sc was a similar experience!

Yep.
