Do any of you guys have a truck with the new ford gas 7.3l engine? Just curious about it.

I got one about a month ago. So far I like it. Pulls my camper and boat way better than my 5.0 F150 or Hemi Ram 2500 did. I think it’s the answer for towing but not wanting a diesel

I know of 1. It spent most of last summer at a dealer waiting on a new crankshaft.

Would give em time to get the bugs out of em.

No, don't own one. I've been interested in it for roughly the past year, but haven't bit. Crankshaft and sparkplug/wire issues make me leery.

Just bought one this weekend. Had to drive to Denver from Az. to get it. Trade in Ram with a Cummins. I have nothing bad to say about the Ram . it was a pulling machine and never had a problem with it. i pull a #8000 camper maybe 8 to 10 times a year and wondered about the need for a diesel as a daily driver. So anyway ,I found this 250 super duty (only one I could find in 5 states with the 7.3) seems to have plenty of power,but won't know about towing till our first trip in march. Over all I like the truck ,seems very well made (well it is new) and very comfortable to ride in . The 10 speed transmission shifts very smoothly, you can hardly feel it shift. So rich now it has 750 miles on it so we'll see.

Serious question, why not a diesel for a daily driver but a big gasser is acceptable?

I drive about 7 miles one way to work ,truck does not even heat up. not good for a diesel. I sat and figured out the cost ,of up keep and repairs and fuel cost ,and it just seemed like a wiser chose. like i said ,I haven't towed with the new one ,so I'll have to wait to see if it was infact a wiser choice,but right now only towing 8 to 10 times a year it seems like it was

I went from a 2016 F150 5.0 to a 2019 F250 6.2 two years ago and I love my F250. I can only imagine that the 7.3 is a beast!

I've had mine in a F-350 a year, just turned over 29,000 miles (busy year lol) So far not a single issue, it pulls a fair amount, I farm and ranch.
Heaviest so far about 23,000 gross truck and trailer for a 300 mile trip, did fine. Makes power down low where it counts.

Running around empty it averages about 13.5, towing between 9-11 depending on trailer. Not bad for a big block gas motor and only 2-3 mpg less than the powerstroke it replaced.

Until I bought it last year I'd owned nothing but diesels since 1993, so I know a little about how they run. So far I have no regrets going with the 7.3 gas motor.

How's the engine braking on steep downhills? That's one thing I'd miss about my Cummins - the exhaust brake.

You've got 10 forward gears in the transmission available at the touch of a button that shifts faster than most can jam a manual 5/6 speed.......

Well the thing I hate about this truck ,is the dang oil dip stick. I've never seen one where its impossible to read the oil level. Absolute piss poor design. the engineer ought to be whipped until bloody with the thing

I have 8 gears on my Toyota Highlander. I have to drop to 4th before I notice any difference other than the needle on the tach. Some of them won't shift down until you're under a certain speed to prevent engine over revving.

Tow/Haul Mode usually overrides it in a Truck.

Pulled with mine for the first time this past weekend. I'm very pleased with it capabilities. Coming from a Ram with a Cummins ,I was little concerned at first ,but the truck and engine did great. Pulled a 9000# trailer up a 5% grade with no problem,it maintained 65 -70 up the grade with no problem. Transmission was very smooth through out the travel. A sight edge and a very slight one to the Cummins on mileage. Truck was very smooth,and very nice riding.
