Story in the local rag today went like this: Kaktovik, A Barter Island (Arctic Ocean) has Native in-holdings in ANWR - ie private property. They wanted to do siesmic oil exploration this winter, on frozen (ie- environmentally safe) ground. Which Trump had approved. Needed a permit from USFW. Denied., Fish cops said Kaktovik needed to do a polar bear denning site survey, which wasn't done by deadline. Why? They needed a permit for low level "incidental disturbance" flights to find the polar bear sites. Issuable of course by USFW. Which sat on that permit and did not issue "in a timely fashion".. so the next permit requirements could be met - despite Trump's go-ahead. Gee, I wonder why. Here is the kicker. Natives are almost all-in for Bidet, voting 90 something percent Democrat. No matter the issues or candidates. How's that working out for them? Last edited by las; 02/26/21.
