I hear about this bullet being a pretty good bullet in a 308, 2 deer and hog, no exit, deer shot right behind the shoulder thru the ribs, hog in neck, all stumbled off and went way further than should when hammering there. The old relliable 150 grain sierra's will go right thru, blood trail there and usually folded up. Bullet selection rr is it just me be a unlucky shooter.

Yep. I load the 150 Interlocks to over 2900 fps and they smuck deer. They are extremely accurate, also, in my RA. I have a 6x ss mounted on it. I will never load another SST. Some say the newer ones are better, but no thanks. Poor performance loaded to only 2650 on white tailed does.

Well we ran the 150 SST a little hotter than that so speed is not the issue, i have punted on them and will run thru what's loaded just shooting targets, I do load the 165 sst in one of my 308 norma magnums, and that's a weapon of mass destruction to the rib cage of anything.

Sounds like you recovered them all. How far did they go after the shot?

I`ve had good luck with them, rib shots, 170grn. 8mm SST, 8x57.

Each of the deer, northern Mn whitetails, so good body size went 75 - 100 yards from standing when shot, no exits and virtually little if any blood. the pig went and went went, shot was lower in neck just in front of shoulder. I suspect they are imploding on contact of anything just my guess, i get pass thru's with the 165 grain version in 308 norma mag. I have never run them in my 8mm, one rifle i shoot 150 grain sierras game kings and the other I shoot the old green box Remington flat nosed 170's , both of them rifles over the years have been very good at smucking whitetails. For years i have shot the 165 sst in a 300 win mag and that too was a weapon of carnage, someone said the design was changed in the bullets at some point and these 150 grainers are really old probably about when they were introduced.

My 170 SST`s I used were 4 years ago. One dropped at the shot, about 75 yrds, the other went about 35-40 yrds. shot at about 85 -90 yrds.

If you recovered the deer, I assume you may have recovered the bullets? Would be interesting to see. I`ve not recovered one.

I also used the 162 grn 7mm SST on two bucks 5 years ago out of the 7 RM. Shots were at 250 yrds. Neither bullet recovered. One deer went about 40 yrds, the other about 60..but I had LOTS of blood.

They are very accurate in my rifles, the 150 gr SST's are tackdrivers in my 30-30AI. They expanded well in water jugs from the pistol also. I remember putting down a pretty big doe that had been hit by a truck. That deer walked around for 45 seconds before going down, she might have been in so much pain or up on adrenaline but the inside of her chest was blendered. That was at 50 yards and shot from a 30-06. 2 inch exit hole blood all over her trail.

I shot a whitetail doe with 139 gr SST in a .280 Rem., and it went through her with a small entrance and exit hole. Luckily she piled up within 15 yards from where I shot her, or I may not have found her. While I have some SSTs to load up in my 270 WSM, but I highly doubt I’ll hunt with them. Plenty of other bullets that give nice exit wounds for hunting.
