"The two were taken to the same room in the Hotel Cummings in which their other comrade lay dying. From the first it was known that he was fatally wounded and he implored some one to shoot him but naturally they could not do this. he lived until the following morning at eleven. He was repeatedly asked for his name and for the whereabouts of his relatives, but he refused to answer and died with his lips sealed.
A cot had been taken to the station and Mr. Sundblad was carefully carried to his home. Doctors were called in and he was given immediate surgical help but to no avail. He passed away the next afternoon at four o'clock.
As soon as the robbers escaped from town Lodine hobbled up to Dr. Bridge's office for treatment for the wound in his upper thigh. They were unable to locate the bullet, bet even so it was felt for awhile that Mr Lodine would be alright (sic). However, his hip became increasingly sore and he took a turn for the worst (sic) and soon passed away.
A complete search of the prisoners revealed a razor suspended from the darkey's neck by a string and a rubber bag containing nitroglycerine in an inside pocket, besides two small steel saws sewed in the other prisoner's shirt. Another razor had already been taken from the pocket of the wounded man. There was a totall of $500 cash found on the three."
