I ended up purchasing four of these M12 Impacts for myself from Standard Manufacturing. 3 of the rifles have the appropriate matching serial numbers on the receiver and the bolt. One does not and the serial numbers are not even close (over 2000 off). Obviously, somewhere between the manufacturer and the distributer, someone was messing with bolts and got them switched. I talked with Mauser-USA and they confirmed that each bolt is head-spaced individually and, by German law, serial numbers are checked by the proof house. Thus far, Standard has not been helpful. A call yielded a "send an email to the tech team at galazanmsn.com". I called two different numbers, and all were answered by the same dude with a foreign accent. My last call to a third number was answered by a woman (who I suspect was sitting right next to the foreign-accent guy) and she said the same thing about an email to the tech team. I asked for a number for the tech guys and she said there wasn't one. Not promising.

Has everyone checked their numbers on the bolts and receivers? Maybe I have your bolt and maybe you have mine?!?! I can only hope that it would be that easy.

Surely that is enough for them to take that mismatched gun as a return . A return that won’t cost you anything out of pocket

Uh...why don’t you just check it for headspace? I doubt that it will be out of specs? If it isn’t, you don’t have a problem.

Guarantee it will draw attention if he ever wants to sell it!

Why? It’s a $499 rifle. A Mauser M12 with a mismatched bolt that’s still within specs isn’t worth $499? Really?

Ha! I checked mine and they don’t match. For that matter the numbers on the firing cocking piece and bolt shroud don’t either.

Doubtful as the four I bought all have matching numbers.

Shroud and cocking piece don't match. Close but off by 20. Will check bolt and receiver in next couple days when they get back from H&M.

I don’t think any parts other than the bolt and receiver are serial numbered (serial number should start with the letters “mc”). I’m not sure what those numbers are on the shroud or cocking piece. Like I said in my first post, the 3 others I bought from Standard have matching receiver and bolt serial numbers. Also, I have an M12 in 30-06, and the bolt and receiver hav matching numbers, with random number markings on the shroud and cocking piece, but none of those markings start with “mc”, like the serial numbers.

Also, as for Standard, given my phone interaction with the offive guy, I highly doubt they were switching out bolts. He could barely answer questions about caliber.
