Sent a Bergara B14 to Karl Kampfeld to cerakote. Rem 700 footprint. I removed OEM trigger and reinstalled pins before sending.

Got it back today and went to put new trigger in it. Front pin tapped right out, rear pin refuses to move. Talked to Karl and he didn’t have any ideas. Have it soaking in Kroil right now. I beat the sh*t out of it for an hour. Made sure when talking to Karl that I am pushing it the right way.

Any tips or tricks?

Is the pin end now expanded/mushroomed from beating on it? Might have to drive it out the other way now. The Kroil should definitely help though.

I hope not but that is a possibility. It’s been soaking about an hour and a half, gonna give it a go again in about half an hour. It is out a tiny tiny bit. The end the punch has been hitting is recessed into the action.

Meant to add one of Karl’s guys did remove them before cerakote which is obvious, they are black and the rest of the action is desert tan.

Update: got about 1/16” of movement by using the round end of the other pin to have something better to whack. Letting kroil eat for a few more minutes now after not getting anywhere with the punch. The other pin was danger close to being stuck itself though pulling it out with vice grips was still working.

I’ve used a heavier hammer for a dead blow vs pecking with a lighter hammer which is more likely to peen.

It’s out. Glory glory. Dragged a 7/32 drill bit through the holes by hand a few times investigating for a burr, nada. No gouges on the pin either. Twisted them both a few times I the finest sand paper I had on hand, coated them in oil, and installed the new trigger with no drama. All I can guess is the cerakote might have been a touch thicker in one spot than another, idk.

Glad you were able to get it out, rifle looks nice.

Normally after applying Cerakote I will run a drill bit through the trigger pin holes just to clean out any excess before installing pins. Glad it worked out for you. Nice rifle!
