This started as just a price check on the open Forums but just decided to take a leap here. I am looking to trade this for an interesting long gun trade. I don’t have a cash price at this time. You decide the value with a trade offer. Trade offer for serious parties by PM only please. If there’s no interest I’ll withdraw the offer in a couple days.

Ruger Super Blackhawk .44Mag. 4.5” barrel. It’s been painted or cerakoted black. It don’t look bad but it has a few defects. Don’t know much about the gun. Serial number check comes back 1969. Decent old gun, shoots good. Not original finish and shows some wear. Be a super gun to carry to the woods and not worry about a scratch.

I will send detailed pics to serious interested people. I don’t want to misrepresent the gun. It isn’t near a safe queen and shows wear.

Nice solid old gun. The action on these are so smooth.
Q: does this gun have the transfer bar safety installed?

I have no idea what that is. I’m not familiar with these at all. How can I tell?

Basically when you cock the hammer if you see a flat bar come up in front of the firing pin then it's has the transfer bar safety. The bar acts to transfer power from the hammer to the firing pin. When the hammer is down the hammer is not touching the firing pin making it safe to carry it loaded with 6 rounds.
If it does not have the bar in front of the firing pin then it is highly recommended to only carry it loaded with 5 rounds allowing the firing pin to rest on an empty chamber. This mitigates accidental discharge.

It does not have that safety feature on it. I see what you’re talking about I’ve seen it on my other revolvers but never knew what it was called.

Thanks

What are your interests in long gun trades?

Cheers, Cody

You can answer this question by observing the hammer. The transfer bar retrofits use a standard Blackhawk hammer; this gun has the original "dragoon-style" hammer, indicating original lockwork.

What do you want for trade, and/or do you have a cash price in mind??
