What's the story with Kimber at the moment? COVID shutdown or something else?

Rifles are pretty much impossible to get here in Australia at the moment and a quick search of GunBroker shows very few for sale there too?

They moved from New York to Alabama (I think) early last spring (I think).

Bad timing.

With the Covid and the move, I'd guess they've been focused on keepin their cash cow 1911's flowing, and the rifles will wait until things normalize.

Hey mate last time I checked Nioa they still have a few 7mm-08Rem, 270's and two 3006's but it might of changed now.

The salesman(The Barn) told me he heard the Nioa rep say Kimber will be getting out of rifles all together to concentrate on their pistols, but maybe just a rumor.

Kimber shutting down rifle production? That’d be an odd choice. Their rifles are popular and sell really well.

I’ve seen lots of 1911s but very few rifles. Last few new rifles I saw were marked Alabama. Hadn’t realized they moved then found articles about New York shutting them down so they moved or moved early to Alabama. Probably a slow process getting new rifles out with the move I’m guessing.

If I worked at a gun store and had Kimber rifles no one wanted to pay full retail for I would start telling people they weren't making new ones. Even if customers don't want something, they'll buy it if they think it's going to become collectible.

Kimber is shut down due to covid right now because they were in the process of moving to Alabama from New York when covid hit. They will be back once things get back to normal.
