buy a real bullet instead of those plastic tipped things that dont kill very well. i bet i have 10-12 boxes of hornady interloks . 140gr in the 270 Sorry, man - I've been using the SST's on deer forever and they have been a killer for me. And here in eastern N.C. where we are allowed an unlimited number of deer tags , I have a pretty good data set to draw from. SST works for me, and has for a good many years .30-06, .308W, and .270W. Feral hogs and whitetail.

Slumlord loads SST,s in his savage 116 6.5x 284 norma.
Pretty devastating bullet. Basically a grenade after 6 or 7 inches of smashing thru bone or soft tissue, get a nasty exit wound. Fragments of the bullet explosion internally everywhere. Neither of us really fret meat damage. He is after major meat areas for his needs so not really worried about front shoulder area damage. Me..... I donate my kills anyways.
I like shooting monolithic bullets outta my 0t6 Like the SPCE outta my 8mm I have yet to recover a bullet from either. I like high shoulder break down shots, smash both shoulders and hopefully smash or heavily damage some vertabreas. With both bullet designs I use. If I can visualize a line thru the chest area on any angle a deer presents. I will take the shot. Makes for some nasty gutting out jobs sometimes though. Gag........
I know I would not wanta get hit with a SST bullet as a human. They cause alot of random internal damage and they blow up bone pretty dramatically from what I have seen . Surgeons nightmare . I dont even think Hawkeye from mash could bring ya back.
Slumlord cant take the chance gutting deer being a transplant patient on immunosuppressant meds.
Gutting out for him and feeling bullet and blown up bone fragments all around a chest cavity willy nilly everywhere. They are a bullet that works on WTD.
Bigger game I would most def use a bullet with more weight retention, deeper penetration, and more delayed expansion.
It's all personal preference anyways.

I've been looking for my old standby .270 130 gr SST bullet to load up some ammo for next year's deer season. Everyone sold out. I know there's an ammo/powder/primer shortage, but damn, there's apparently even been a run on hunting bullets too! Geeez!
When do y'all think this crap will end? Nowadays, all bullets are dear bullets. So, you can kill NC deer with 270? Who knew.

If you would use them I'll send you a box of the regular 130 gr. flat based Interlock spire points for $30. shipped. I have used this bullet for years and feel it would be hard to improve on. Great bullets that work well on elk also.

Forum member Dean Anderson just sold me a vintage box of Nosler 115gr. partitions for my 257 Roberts. Great guy to do business with. My Bro-in-Law is set up for reloading. Gonna show me how it's done this week.

Good deal. I took a look around, remembered that last summer I got into some SSTs, but, they were 284s.... Signing up for in-stock notices is a good thing. Stuff is still being made, and shipped, and sold...

SW got some federal 130g 270 in so I snagged 2 bxs, also had 3030, grabbed that as well, both priced at $21 ea. Bought for ranchers who don't get into town and asked me to buy whatever I can for them.
Did I make you cry......boooo hooo, life goes on.
