Note that the media never makes any mention of how the Somalis were seeded in Maine and Minnesota through the US Refugee Admissions Program. Your average American, reading these stories, must wonder why and how so many Somalis got to America in the first place! Why is that? Is it that the media is loathe to put the word “refugee” in a story about violent crime?

It is inaccurate / misleading. Just because Maine is safe on average does not make burning and looting less violent when they happen.

It is true that it is mostly a white state. It is ignorant to say that is why it is the safest state. High crime areas occur in highly populated extremely impoverished areas. You can try and say its because of race but at the turn of the last century, the crime rates were the highest in areas populated by Italians and Irish not mention the gangsters of the 1930's were all white as well as the mafias which got their start at that time.

That is not true at all. Nearly all categories of violent crime follow the below trends.

You could substitute 'New England' for 'Maine' and the statement would be true. But the four New England states (VT, NH, MA and ME) are probably the most homogeneous region in the country. They're better educated, more uniform in standard of living, predominantly white, northern European backgrounds, and generally of the same religious background, etc than much of the rest of the country. But NH is just as safe (within the margin of error of the crime stats) as ME, and yet NH has been dominated by Republicans for years, so what does it all prove? IMO, this kind of social behavior stuff (e.g. crime) is way too complicated to explain with one factor, i.e. race, religion, gender, nationality, educational level, etc.
