the store shelves haven't returned to norrmal...this is the biden normal Store shelves increasingly resemble those in old photographs of those in stores of the old Soviet Union.

Major appliances, for sure. Told one of my new kitchen clients about that months ago. Today when I got the downstroke, I reiterated that to her.

Hoarding. Hoarding due to The Corona. Laid off folks watching too many home improvement shows too. Buyin' up all the T-111 and scheidt. Buildin' she sheds for unemployed mom and the kids to have a place to do crafts to sell on E t s y . And places to store all the ammo they're buyin' to scalp at the the gun shows.
After getting our shop/garage electrified, this past summer I went to look for a freezer as we'd been surviving on the one on the top of our fridge. Only two of us, so no major inconvenience.
Checked a place up in the big town and he said he had folks living in studios that started buying any one he could get them, back when the TP shortages were going on.
I waited weeks for them to get in a small one. Like some fugger in a studio needs a 15cf freezer to store his Hot Pockets and Marie Calenders in.
Sheesh

Car manufacturers last year anticipated drops in sales because of COVID and cancelled or scaled back orders for computer chips and boards.
"Just in time" bit them in the ass when orders didn't drop and they didn't have enough computer chips and boards.
You can call the factory in Taiwan and say "send me some motherboards yesterday", but a factory in Taiwan isn't going to keep parts for 2021 Ford F-150s in a big box in the back somewhere. Takes time to get set up, and Volkswagen is screaming to be put at the head of the line because they didn't see this coming either.

the hole in the supply chains must be taking longer to fill. and considering the supply chain for a lot of these materials is staffed by lower earning people, the covid welfare has got to be affecting the workforce. and the extra 300/week is now extended to sept. just in time for people to say "f uck it, i'm taking the summer off". this is what socialism will do for you. incentivize people not to work.

The Toyota dealer where I bought my Tundra last year called me three months later and offered to buy it back.
They can't get new Tundras.
I said no.

way too many products from widely different segments of the economy to just pass this massive disruption in the supply chain off as covid related or hording. There are some serious economic issues happening, and no one in DC or the media is talking about it.

New truck prices are without any rebates or dealer incentives, up 15%.
Late model used reflecting this & up as well.
A 3 year old truck selling for a new one sold for 2 years ago.
