Picked up a gen 4 Glock 22 Friday in a trade, it was a police trade in that appears unfired and looked brand new all around. Got it with 6 magazines and it has the Glock factory night sights. Took it out quick and shot a few magazines of random fmj's I had laying around at some cans and like it. Always good to have another caliber on hand

Wasn't a loss in my eyes, I traded an sks for it. I know some folks dont like glocks but they fit my large hands well and I'm able to shoot them much better than some other handguns

Sweet.

I agree that having caliber options is a good thing these days.

I've got a 2nd generation G22 that gets carried and shot more than any handgun I own.

Sharpshooter97: Many years ago, on this forum, and other venues, I began espousing that a Glock Model 22 in caliber 40 S&W with high capacity magazines, night sights and top quality hollow-point ammunition was about the top urban battle pistol ever devised!
NOTHING has changed my mind since then!
I have carried Glock Model 22's (as described above) both professionally and privately for decades now and will do so for the duration.
ANYONE denigrating the Glock Model 22 is "out to lunch" (and thats the BEST thing I could say about them!)!
You did well in your acquisition.

I was baited with five gallon buckets of 40 brass. Got a 5ā€ M& P 2.0. 200 grain wfn just under 1100 fps times sixteen. Iā€™m liking it

I bought one of those a few years ago. Mine was in near new condition, too. Functions flawlessly. Great bargains, due to police departments switching to the Glock 17 in large numbers following a recent FBI report on the comparative effectiveness of 9mm vs .40 S&W.

I'm not a .40 fan, but "cartridge diversity" isn't a bad thing when ammo availability is tight. Keep shooting!

Hard to beat a 40 SW in a Glock platform 1 in pipe plus 15 rounds pretty comforting.

I can not believe anyone would get a loser like the 40 S&W. That is a holdover from the times when people did not know what real power is. Maybe it could be given to someone.

The only problem with the pre-Gen 5 Glock .40 S&W pistols is that they were based on 9mm pistols, which were modified to accept a larger barrel/chamber. As a result, the higher pressures of the .40 S&W bang them up and break them down faster than most other maker's auto-pistols in .40 S&W which tended to be designed from scratch with .40 S&W pressures in mind. For most people, that won't much matter (other than generating snappier recoil in pre Gen V Glocks so chambered), because few will reach the round count necessary for that factor to come into play.

Hard to tell the power of any caliber shooting paper. Shoot some steel plates and immediately you can tell the difference . Hasbeen

G22 is a pretty solid setup all around . Not too costly even in the current market , ability to be converted to multiple calibers easily (which could be helpful right now ) , millions of parts of needed , and although it is sometimes argued... the performance is there .

My old police trade in ended up morphed into a competition playtoy , itā€™s been a ton of fun

I added a S&W model 4006 to my stable, while they're still available and cheap (paid $430 for a 98% condition one). It holds 11 rounds I believe. Nice part about it, is if it runs out of ammo in a gunfight, it can be thrown at the enemy as a 3 pound projectile!! LOL

Nice acquisition. I've got 9mm and 357 Sig barrels for my Gen2.

I've currently got a 6" 357 Sig barrel in mine. 2230 fps with the Underwood 65gr load.

I'm a fan of having extras on hand. Seems that even during the ammo shortages aside from the current nonsense I used to always see 40 on the shelves
