Birdwatcher you seem to miss my point. I assert that we are not giving up our right to carry pistols but execising the right of free men to live without fear by collectively exercising our right not to carry (democracy in action).

We are not living in fear of attack contantly. Most violent crime is either crim v crim or domestic violence which in neither case do we want either party carrying firearms thus making the result more likely to be lethal. That is how we stay safe here

What about the violent crimes where some goon attacks an innocent party who COULD escape injury IF armed, BY FREE CHOICE, with an appropriate handgun? Are there NO such situations in New Zealand or Australia at ALL?

I HAD to use a .357 revolver, a "prohibited weapon" that I am "grandfathered"to retain under Canada's disgraceful gun legislation a few years ago. This wasa when a large, dark-skinned male of half my age broke into my kitchen at about 6:00 pm on a New Year's Eve with obvious intentions. He spoke no English (typical of our f*cked immigration laws) and would not leave my home when I told him to.

The gun in my hand, my obvious skill in it's use and the personality derived from centuries of ancestors serving as officers in The Brigade of Guards, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and The Royal Highland Regiment, "The Black Watch" seemed to convince this wog to get out before I shot him, so, he finally left after three verbal warnings and just before I would have fired.

This crap happenes here A LOT as the traitors have allowed massive non-traditional immigration from all over instead of our own people being encouraged to settle in Canada. We now have Eastern European gangs, Asian gangs, black gangs and vermin from everywhere in our once-peaceful nation. Shortly after this, two East Indian Sikh politicians here called for a "gun free Canada" while THEY, immigrants to MY country, DEMAND that THEY can carry swords!!!!

C'mon, lads, handgun bans are NOT about crime prevention, they are ALL about totalitarian control of the many by an elitist few and FREEDOM is not "created" by the "nanny state", it is our BIRTH RIGHT!!! "There will always be an England" ....I am beginning to wonder.......

I keep a 44 mag loaded with Alaskan BackPacker 320 grain HC bullets in the bedroom, I won't feel sorry for any SOB that breaks into my house while we are home and he/she won't find it when we aren't.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Works for me.

Now I see the problem...Handguns have NOT been banned in Australia, PERIOD.
I reside in a town of two thousand and there are around three hundred handguns in town with a thriving pistol club, should I ever get a mad urge to own and shoot such I shall join the club and get a licence.
James.

Imagine that, the media lied to you...

I do prefer to keep my guns into my safe. I took my shotgun one night when hearing a noise downstairs ... and almost blasted one of my feet with a slug when the cat jumped out of the dark into my feet. Now with a little child at home i'm more careful than ever.

But I have to admit there are not lots of crimes in the village i live in. And it's sure that if you shoot an intruder here, you'll go to jail, lost the right to own a gun, lost the right to hunt ... even if he's got a gun (except if you let him shoot you before you fire ... there justice could consider self defense was legal)

In case of problem i think i woud take the napoleonian sabre i keep in my bedroom. Quite quick and effective at short range ...

I am not completely familiar with Oz or Kiwi gun laws, no, but, my point is not that. It IS that I have the RIGHT to own and carry any bloody weapon or tool I WANT TO and NO godam bureaucrat or wog or traitor politician has the right to stop me.

Freedom is MY right, not a privilege granted by government, that is the essence of my point and, I believe that of Birdy and the other Yanks here. Most Canadians are so bloody brainwashed by our corporate media, that they have forgotten how we died for freedom and now do not value it....gawd, I hate socialists, wogs and traitors!!!!

See, now the only problem I have with that, is having that license, tells them right where they need to go if they want to confiscate them. Me, I like hunting with my 454 Casull and my 45 Colt, can you use them to hunt with there or just punch paper? Non of mine a registered here in Colorado, not a requirement, there are some state that yes you do register them, Michigan comes to mind, they call it Safety Check. Les

Our restrictions are not so onerous, we do have the right to defend ourselves, however if the authorities cannot get you with the law they will get you with the price of the law.

Hate to burst your bubble Kute, they won't, their squads of goons will.

I have found that as I get older I do not currently hate anyone.

Hello, would you please tell me what veneur means.
James.

The funny thing is that in Australia you would be legal defending yourself with a firearm if your life and/or the life of your family member were in jeopardy, but that sword would land you in jail quick smart.

I KNOW this, my entire collection, some three dozen guns was confiscated last January because I HAD to put down a dog that was very violent, INSIDE my basement. The ERT commander was a REAL AZZhole AND I suspect some motivation here as the other cops were nice. It was a Sunday and lawyers were hard to get; I got my guns back, but, with damage due to improper storage of them, including my $12,000 drilling, $7000.00 Dakota, etc.

The coppers here are out of control with this and they find ways to circumvent Canada's Charter of Rights; most DECENT citizens here now loath and fear the police and this is a sad state of affairs. I have WORKED for the RCMP and with various municipal forces, I now will NEVER assist or cooperate with ANY cop and will not even talk to one without legal representation and most of my neighbours are even more anti-cop than I am......really wonderful, eh?

I am coming to hate all government as politicians are scoundrels, hypocrites, liars and many here are foreign scum from India and a lot are homos as well.

I told you that our two countries were similar. It sounds very much like the same pricks that are running Australia are also running Canada.
Personally, I truly do think that the whole problem is multiculturalism, the authorities have made such a mess of the whole show that they are desperately trying to limit firearms availability to the imports so that they do not continue their dirty little wars here.
James.
