What grain bullet would you guys use for hunting Muledeer with a 17hmr? Going out west with mine in the fall and don't want to use a bullet that might be too heavy and lose a bunch of meat.....

No the caliber is fine. It’s your chambering that’s all wrong. .177 Crosman 760 and aim for the eye. If that doesn’t work club him over the head with it.

I got heavily chastised on this forum for suggesting my beloved 222 Remington was not enough for deer.......................
but a 17hmr ??????????? I wont even use it on coyotes again.
show a little respect for the game you are hunting, use a 17 Hornet but not a rimfire (-:

It would be about my last choice. However I bet more deer are taken with a 22LR than most folks think.
