Anyone got a favorite or one to avoid? I’d like an aluminum one.

I bought a used 'no name' aluminum hauler at a yard sale for $25.00 I am pretty sure it came from Harbor Freight. I like it a lot.
I like it for hauling coolers on trips ( extra room for her clothes & stuff ) & deer carcasses ( no blood inside )... Especially in the wifes Pilot.
Obviously you have to pay attention to your backing skills with it in the hitch.
My father in law made one that it took 3 people to install... I would not recommend one of those...lol On the plus side, when he hit a back or fence post, it didnt bend or flex....so there is that.

I saw the Harbor Freight one, looks like Northen Tool has the same one. Don’t think I could get too hurt for $85. Probably add a few rod holders and stow my Faux Yeti

one year I had one of those and I loaded some of those black/yellow plastic tubs on it with Xmas presents for the kids, chocolate, food, etc
I didn't notice the exhaust on my car was blowing just below on one of them. Xmas was temporarily ruined

See lots of them Eastbound Sept-Nov w/wild game carcasses wrapped in blue tarps. 85 degrees, carcass wrapped in a blue tarp, 900Mi of diesel exhaust and road grime, it's no wonder some folks don't like to eat wild game.........

I also have the Harbor Frt aluminum one. It's worked very well so far. It's rated at 500lb but if you put that much weight behind the bumper of most cars, you're going to be sagging. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. The exhaust on our car is to the side and doesn't hit the rack. I have a plastic wheeled box that fits nicely but when it's on, I can't open the lift gate. Luckily it has a small upper window that opens separately.

I have a steel one I bought from a coworker a long time ago. I wish it was aluminum but I don't use it often enough for it's weight to be an issue. It has one feature I haven't seen on any other hitch hauler which is kind of handy -- the hitch is universal. It can be mounted in a 2", 1-1/4" receiver, or as a bumper hitch with just a bolt and nut.

I have the Harbor freight one. Works on front (i.e. for fishing) or rear mount.
