What does “JM” mean in Marlin history? Must be good, because they carry more value.

What does “JM” mean in Marlin history? Must be good, because they carry more value. The JM is a stamp indicating that it was made/proofed by the original Marlin factory before Remington bought Marlin. It indicates a level of quality generally but the Remington built guns eventually were very good quality reportedly.
