What does “JM” mean in Marlin history? Must be good, because they carry more value.

The JM is a stamp indicating that it was made/proofed by the original Marlin factory before Remington bought Marlin. It indicates a level of quality generally but the Remington built guns eventually were very good quality reportedly.

JM= John Marlin = real Marlin
