Guns or ammunition? I don't think anyone is currently chambering for it in a factory offering as far as rifles go. It is actually one of the few types of factory ammo you can find on the shelves here. I have seen a bunch in 2-3 different shops lately. I have a rifle that PacNor barreled and chambered for me that is a tack driver. I have enough brass and components to keep me shooting quite a while with it.

I also dunno about rifles and ammo--but it's a fine cartridge.
For several years after it appeared I used it as my primary prairie dog round, because it worked just as well as larger cartridges out to 300-350 yards--which in my experience is about how far most PD shooters can hit more than they miss in typical wind conditions.
But brass was always a problem, and when the .17 Hornady Hornet appeared I bought a CZ 527. It shot a little more accurately than the stainless/synthetic 700 .17 Fireball I had--and I couldn't tell any difference in field performance. Plus, .17 Hornet brass and factory ammo was far more available, much more "affordable," and powder charges were 2/3 as much.

I'd like to find some brass. There's nothing here component wise or loaded ammo.

Can't remember the company name, but couple years ago, I ordered a couple hundred cases for the 17 Fireball, which was reformed out of Surplus once fired Lake City Brass... it was located out of southern Illinois... can't remember their name tho... it was something that you wouldn't think was located in Illinois...
like Rocky Mountain brass or something like that...
they did a good job on the brass... I'm just started using it as I recently finally got a 17 Fireball barrel for a Savage action...
maybe someone might be familiar with the place...
they also reformed for 17 Rem, 221 Fireball and 20 Tactical...

Boatammo: Brad I always keep my eye out for 17 Remington Fireball brass and ammunition. I have called the last two sport shops where I saw 17 Remington Fireball ammo for sale and it indeed HAS sold and not replaced as yet. Both those shops were in SW Montana. I am headed west in several days for a gunshow and gunshop tour and I will keep an eye out for factory 17 Remington Fireball ammo for you. The factory Remington ammunition shot/shoots extremely well in my heavy barrel Remington 700 VSF (Varmint/Synthetic/Fluted) and in addition to the small hoard of brass I got for it some years ago I have added the brass from the factory ammo I buy and shoot from time to time. Are you interested in reloading stuff or just factory ammo? More later. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Case necks look to be on the thick side on that Highplains brass, I would check to make sure they don't need turning. Could be the lens and camera angle so might be just fine. Too bad this one seems to be fading out, it's a good little cartridge for certain applications.

I've been loading some of the High Plains brass...
Its doing just fine...annealed and neck sized first... Second loading have done the same thing...
Right now I am doing my usual 10 times endurance test with 5 rounds...
I do that with any new barrel or rifle, plus it helps break in the barrel, and allow me to zero the scope...
This batch has been good enough I put in an order for another couple hundred cases... Barrel is an ER Shaw i picked up via EABCO. Savage Action...

I bought 200 High Plains .17 FB brass cases years ago when I couldn't find factory brass. They have been fired 8 times with no losses, trimming, or neck turning.

Saw a bunch of factory ammo in a shop in Raytown Mo today. Didnt check prices.

I was on Grafs and they had some Nosler .17 Fireball brass in 100 round bags so I bought 300 to make into .20 Vartarg. That is the second time in the last few weeks Grafs has had .17 Fireball brass but it doesn't seem to last long.

I've tried contacting High Plains brass three times since I ordered some 2/21 with no success.
