I used to have one of these once upon a time but I can't seem to find one now nor even find much in reference. Anyone able to help with model number and history would be much appreciated. I'd like to stick one on a nice rimfire if I can find one.

You wouldn't mean a Vari-X IIc model, would you?

That could very well be it. Don't recall that it had external parallax adjustment though but I could easily be wrong. I appreciate your response.

If that's what you're thinking of then it isn't a compact model. The small case c at the end designated Vari-X II scopes made after a design change that allowed for greater erector travel then the previous ones had. A lot of people have mistaken the meaning of that little c.

A buddy has one of the compact 4 - 12 Leupold on his rimfire and it is a really nice scope. Only one I've ever seen and I've been searching for one since I saw his.... Leupold didn't make them for very long IIRC, so they may be hard to find, especially with the gloss scopes like these going for premium prices these days...

I saw one the other day at a friend's house but it was so beat up and dirty it was hardly recognizable. I'll take a closer look next time and make a positive ID. I'm sure it will be difficult to find a decent one for sale.

3-9x compact w AO was the EFR model.
They did a straight 6X too.

Reg 3-9 compact has fixed parallax.

Burris did AO compacts in 3-9x and 4-12x gloss.
Thr 4-12x had some funk to em.

Never seen a Leupold 4-12x AO compact.
Doubt they exist as I kinda paid attention back then.
Maybe some special run?
Doubt it.

I had an EFR 3-9x gloss but sold it as friction adj just irked the chit outta me. Why I sold my matte 4-12x AO as well.
