Well, maybe hanging on to that isn't a good idea, but...This time it isn't the virus. There's a world shortage of shipping containers to get the wood pulp here from Brazil..
Toilet paper could face a new shortage Suzano SA is the biggest producer of wood pulp used in the production of toilet paper By Ken MartinFOXBusiness
A shortage in the availability of shipping containers could lead to another toilet paper shortage.
Suzano SA, the biggest producer of wood pulp, used in the production of toilet paper, tells Bloomberg that the global crunch of shipping containers could clog supply lines.
Coronavirus created a shortage of bath tissue at the start of the pandemic as consumers resorted to panic buying and stockpiling.
Demand for the steel-ribbed containers threatens to delay shipments,.Chief Executive Officer Walter Schalka said in an interview.
The company's concern is that a backup in March shipments could spillover to April.
Brazil is the top producer of pulp and Suzano accounts for a third of global supplies.

If you didn't get a bit extra when the supply stabilized and you run out immediately, shame on you.

This would not have been a crisis if the Grape Nuts shortage hadn't just ended.

So you fugging white bastards are actually cutting down the rain forest to make room for foreign soybeans and to produce toilet paper.
And who says white privilege does not exist?

Container shortage has been going on for 6+ months. This isn't new nor is the container needed to haul this pulp "special" vs any other container.
Price solves this issue.
The shortage is because container shipping companies are getting more money to keep those boxes moving from China to the West Coast. LOTS more money.
Spot price for a TEU from China to the W. Coast is about 4100 more today than it was last year at this time. EACH. And that's likely low by a couple grand. You can expect to pay more if you actually want that spot container to move in the next 3 weeks.
China to East Coast - 3055 more than last year at this time.
Shipments from Brazil are up 18.2% YoY, and volume should be up fairly sharp over the next 7 days.

Most people are maintaining a stockpile against a future shortage, so the impact should be less this time.

Not to mention, we get very little pulp wood for TP from Brazil. The only thing that will cause a TP shortage here is hoarding, spurred on by threads like this.

I’m glad I saved all those corn cobs. I’ve been getting bundles of denim shreds from a local textile/fabric recycler.

Gonna start a rumor there’s mRNA in the TP. Brazilian rainforest intestinal worm mRNA. People gonna run from it like Godzilla came ashore. Yup, i can fix this shortage.

If you didn't get a bit extra when the supply stabilized and you run out immediately, shame on you. A bit? A lifetime supply at least, or you have no grounds to complain! If you haven't been buying a case every payday since the Carson-induced shortage of '73, you're not a real American!

Did any of you install a bidet?
I remember some opposition to them during the last shortage but never could tell why.

there's a long time period between finding someone willing to plant pine trees in perfectly straight rows and the end processing that allows us low-cost quality toilet paper.
it ain't like growing cotton to make soft sheets for the bed, or beef calves to make tender high grade beef.
