I'm talking about the Kettle River by Banning State Park, on the east 23 Exit. Beautiful park too.

I bet that's a headache.

I'd love to ride out there but I'd be sure to plan it before or after the circus, not during.

And Lee said it was way down this year too!

Well, mini man passed part one of hunters safety today. The outdoors section. If I can get his pis uploaded I'll post em. He did well on the shooting portion. The other stuff too but I didn't get to see all that.

We stayed after and shot his .223 for about an hour as well. We can tighten up the groups but he would have killed a deer with every shot. Literally.

The range master decided to scold me because we are going to use a .223 for deer hunting.told us all about how it's not capable, and a crippled not a killer. All things a new 11 year old hunter really didn't need to hear. One he watched him shoot and I explained we shoot several weekends in the summer and every seemed in the fall, as well as studying the animals, and reloading our own shells, he really backed off. He really liked that I have a .35 Whalen and actualky shook my hand because of it! Lol. Never had that happen before.

It was a fun day.

Well Tom, don't you know because he was a rangemaster today, his word is the absolute gospel? What do you want to bet he started his kid out with an '06 and 200 gr. loads, cuz nothing smaller than that would ever kill a deer? Guys need to shut their yaps and let the dad do the teaching. I'm sure he'll be fine with that .223. He's got a damned good mentor, Tom. The boy's in good hands.

I think this is my wife's 4th deer with her .223. None of her relatives in MN seem capable of comprehending it's not "luck."

Believe it or not, we have seen the 220 swift drop deer right in their tracks.

Stunt shooting.

I like stunt shooting. I have killed a deer or two or three with 8 twist 22-250 or Swift....

You know I love me some 8 twist 22-250. It's my go-to rifle.

That one was 100yds or so if I remember correctly. Maybe less.

This was one was a bit further. I remember finding him silhouetted with very little time left in the day. The Zeiss read "300" when I ranged him. Told her where to hold and she sent a single TSX his direction.

That was that:
