We have a soggy yard at home here but no water in any of the buildings, no tree damage, got lucky. We'll need a canoe to get back into deer camp tho.

If any of the Minnesota boys might be heading out to the Oakdale Gun Cub this Sunday, Three of us from our hunting group will be there bright and early. Look for the ugly fat guy with the 99's and come over and say "hi." Always nice to meet another 'Fire member face to face.

checked on the cabin last night, the road in is wet but the cabin is fine after the storms. we got blasted with another storm on our way out of the forest last night.

I set out a new cellular trail cam last night. Moultrie XV7000i

We have very poor cell service out there so it will be interesting to see if the camera can manage to upload any images from where I set it up.

good catch.

Yes we had bad luck with earlier moultrie cams. 2 years ago I took a chance on an inexpensive unit that ran on double A batteries, possibly a M30 model? anyways, it worked really well for me and last year I grabbed a second unit of the same model, also did very well for us. So I decided to give this cellular unit a try. Fingers crossed.

I've still got a working one from 2008 !

My only beef is it eats batteries when it gets really cold.

8 aa per 2 days once -15*C or colder !!!

Buddy's got one, same vintage, maybe 2010, that uses 4 C batteries & it lasts the whole season !

Is there anything better than watching your kids shoot wood ducks? Plenty of shooting this morning and some shots even found their target. Pretty fun to watch. And my dog....? Holy moly did the light come on! She is a retrieving fool. Her 3rd time out with very little training and she retrieved all 4 birds and 3 of them were blind retrieves. Not sure I deserve her.

Gonna get a little nipply up there tonight, eh? Throw another blanket on the bed and snuggle in!

Glad to hear the cabin is doing fine. I thought about your road when I heard about all that rain. Although you have Fords so it would be no problem, I wouldnt want it to be so muddy that Chevy's couldnt get in or out. I assume you have a friend or two with a Chevy.

I’m on year 4 for my Wildgame cams. We’ll see what happens. I’ll put some out on Saturday.

My Primos Truth 35 cams that used the big D sized batteries lasted maybe 2 years. Then I bought a Truth 36 with 8 AA’s. It’s 5 years old now. Still takes pics but doesn’t put date/time/temp on anything.

I have Primos Truth 2 that will be on season 3 this year. We’ll see how it works as well.

I don’t like the mounting of the Wildgame cams. They use tiny bungee cords. All others I have or have had, use a strap.

Watching them shoot real ducks would probably be better.

Last weekend before archery starts for us. Can't wait to head to the cabin, last check of the cameras, finalize scouting and get ready for next week.

We will be descending on Oakdale Gun Club Sunday morning for a little range time. My self and two of my son's buddies going to shoot our rifles. Sure seems weird not having Eric around for this annual get together. He's down in Indiana now and will join us at deer camp Friday night before the opener. On the list for this Sunday will be two Savage 99's, my old Mauser '06, the AR, my slug gun, and ???? Looking forward to some much needed trigger time. If anyone's headed out there this Sunday, stop by and introduce yourself. We'll be there Sunday morning early.
