14 years ago today at this time, Dave, his family and the rest of us that knew and loved Waylon were about to receive the news that would drop us to our knees in disbelief.

R.I.P. buddy. You are missed dearly.

I cannot get to fish camp because of the US Canada border closure so I am already thinking about deer camp. These guys and girls are regulars here since this years apple crop is doing so well. I've been shooting a little lately. Thinking about taking the old Rem. 760 out this year, the remodel is complete. Stock refinish, barrel shortened & a new old Weaver 4x with post crosshair.
Anyone else been to deer camp?
Sorry about the first few XL pics.

Here we sit at August. About a month before things really start to get cranking deer hunting wise. I have started thinking about some stand locations and some getting out for a bit of trail work.

Lots of things on deck for this fall including some bow hunting hopefully. Fishing is tops on the list so far though. laugh

Did a overnight to deer camp to check cameras. I can confirm there are still deer in the north woods. In fact several are nice 8 pointers. There were some 6, 5 and 4 pointers pictured also.

Three wolves seen, a moose, with a wide rack, and several bears.

It was good to walk in the woods again and this morning when we got up it was 43 degrees.

Hope renewed for a good season and time at deer camp.

I saw that TJAY. I was telling my wife tonight about that. We had our first anniversary right up by your camp.

Good to hear there are some nice bucks around after the season you had last year!

Big run the Greenwood fire today. Praying for the cabin owners. Know some north of 1. so they are still ok. Deer camp about 4 miles away. 6 mile run today so anything can happen just depends on the wind.

They got a trace. Winds today have been 10-20 with gusts to 36. These have been from the West/Nw.

TJAY,

How that fire now? This rain should help get that sucker snuffed out.

I’m starting to think about getting some trail cams ready. May find some time next weekend to get them out.

See what’s hanging out in the bushes.

They got 1 1/2 to 2 over Sat-Sun morn. 14% contained this is the Northwest corner and along 1. They are making progress but east and NE still a worry with west winds. Campground we were in day before the fire is gone I hear along with a dozen cabins south of the campground. Deer camp will be Ok if they can keep it south of 1. Dang fire has burned 40 sq. miles.

It sounds like my buddies camp is in danger as well. I’m not sure exactly where they’re at. Theirs is a snowmobile camp for the most part. They best throng they have going is it’s mostly bog around them.

Sounds like that fire is fairly well contained now TJAY. I heard on the news last night the BWCA is still closed tho.

Hi guys, I've been busy working and being a grandpa and stuff. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Things are finally green and lush up north after a hot dry summer. We've been to camp, maintained old trails and mowed some new ones that we are excited about. Hope all is well with chicken buckaroos everywhere.

Something clever here.

Glad all's well for you Dave. Love the work you post to FB once in a while. Good luck this fall and winter on the ice.
