One other cool thing that happened. A younger guy about 30 pulled up and asked if I have anything good on camera. He said he owns the 80 that buys up against a spot I’ve hunted for about 6-7 years. He knew it was there, and told me where he’d be so we’re aware of each other. We’re hunting about 1/4 - 1/3 mile apart. No biggie.

He had his wife with him and was chatty as well. But as we kept talking, he sounded real familiar to me. I knew him from somewhere and couldn’t place it. Then he said he moved about 15 years ago from a small town near Wausau. A light bulb went off…I asked his name and he told me.

I started laughing and said unused to work at an archery shop he got his start bow hunting at. He moved up to where we hunt and is a principal at the school there. But when he miced, he was also working/hunting for Drury Outdoors. He doesn’t anymore but it was good to BS with him and his wife.

That is the greatest feeling in the world, owning your own little piece of paradise ! Congratulations to you and your family, with luck you can always add to it until you own the whole damn square !

What did you do up there David?

Put up a few stands and a blind, then cut shooting lanes. Prior to this, it was literally just going out into the woods.

I usually hunt elsewhere, but saw a bunch of deer muzzle loading last year, and am bringing up my brother and nieces again.

I'll hunt during the week at another property and see how this goes.

Aren't those double ladders fun to put up?

We went back to the cabin and grabbed an extension ladder.

I had a safety line and harness, but, yeah, it gets "fun '
