Fresh deer tracks in the new snow. Im considering carrying a couple of snow tracks back to the cabin and placing them into a large pot. Ill turn the stove burner on medium flame as i add meat, chopped peppers, onion, rotel, beef broth, spicy v8 juice, pinto beans, browned beef, chili packets, other seasonings... perhaps some tomato sauce if needed?
It will be a triumphant batch of track soup.

Something clever here.

MI 2021 starts today, season starts Monday but I'm here.

Jumped 3 deer and 2 grouse on the 1/4 mile in...

38°F, had to burn some vegetables....

This year I'm hunting a Montana in 7-08 (Amax over Reloader in Lapua brass), a 480 Ruger and a Glock 19 for plinking.

Good luck to everyone else.

Thanks. It's quickly become my favorite. Round the shack they've called it "The Death Star".

Good luck to you and yours as well.

I have a .223 and a .243 in Montana’s currently. I’m thinking I’d like a 7-08 based on the fact that I’ll probably not ever run out of 7mm bullets.

I have a pretty good pile of them.

My two cent MN report:

I have been out everyday until this morning, we have filled one tag. That's the way the cookie crumbles. Shuffling between home and Emily. Snow/sleet and wet the last two days in Emily. Felt a bit under the weather, and stayed in this morning. I will be out again this afternoon in the Annandale area. I think I have a case of wolf denial in Emily, and am considering moving back to the Park Rapids area for my state land hunting. We've always done well there.

Regardless, I'm enjoying it as much as I always do, and will wrap up tomorrow in Zone 219, and will head back up to 171 next week for the last days of firearms.
How is the MN season shaping up for everyone else?

Deb took some great photos, of our "bush", while hunting.

I'll see if I can get them.

Cue the snowmachine !

Looking back at the house, as you exit the bush, about the corner in the pic above.

Although my boys and dad shot some deer, my daughter stole the show this year and shot a dandy. He has 14 points and scores just over 160". Gonna cost me some money at the taxidermist! Add it to her bull elk and she had quite the season. Sure is fun to watch your kids have success! I don't have any accounts or I would post a picture. Just imagine a big buck with a smiling girl!

How did that track soup taste ND? I might have to make some myself!

Excellent!

We get some giant does in WI where we're headed in a few days. Antlerless permits are far and few between except for the kids. There aren't many of them but when they can't get shot, they get some age on them. I call 'em "rubber heads." What you have there is a rubber head. lol

What I have there is what you can shoot at dusk when you don't shoot the little ones all day. 😉

Lessons were learned last week.

I like the young ones better than the rubber heads. 1.5 year old doe would be perfect for the freezer
