Good video - I watched it last night. Christians murdering christians. Churches cashing in on the miserable lives of others. Glad we've moved on, more or less. Luther was approaching his belief in logical fashion (initially anyway) and enabled people to better inform themselves. Imagine society today if he hadn't had the fortitude that he had.

Truelly bold moves by Luther considering
the potential hazardous consequences.

Martin Luther and Napoleon Bonaparte
gave RCC a kick in the nuts that was
long overdue and the job ain't finished yet .

Recently watched the movie, “Luther” with Stacey Keach.

Pretty good movie.

There had been sightings of a shadowy, other-worldly figure in the Vatican library. Along with the sightings, there had been strange things going on with the shelved items, with some actually having been removed. Numerous reports of UFOs had also been reported in the vicinity. Finally, it was decided to bring in the Ghost Busters team to deal with the situation. They eventually captured the elusive being. His identity? Martian Looter.

Years back, Doctor James Dury kept our church spellbound with his sermon on the Reformation.

Confirmed ELCAholic here. I had my fill years ago. Pop pulled us out of church when they wouldn't stop asking for money for an unnecessary new chapel. My dad never went back, and my mom is worried about his soul. Nothing new.
I've been back sporadically, it is Easter after all.

ELCA has a lot of problems, never should have been configured as it was. I really don't know what people were thinking other than that they expected the best out of people. The midwesterners gave their best, and still are. The easterners? Not so much. Ugh.

ELCA is not by definition really Lutheran anymore. They pretty much caved in to worldly , liberal ideology and feelings.

Jumped off the ELCA ship decades ago and joined the LCMS. All the pastors I know are big 2A guys.

Raining here. Too much time on my hands. My folks noticed the beginning of the change in the early 80's. The focus turned to image instead of religion.
The first step was the inclusion of female pastors. Everyone knew even back then that they were lesbians, but no one wanted to say much. It spiraled out of control from there.
My brother attends a Missouri Synod church. They used to have a fire and brimstone pastor that looked just like General Burkhalter from Hogan's Heroes. Good times.

Isn’t that scene where he is preaching the Gospel while digging a grave IN THE CHURCH YARD for that young man who committed suicide one of the most moving things you’ve ever seen?

I love that movie; gotta catch it again.

My family were big-time salt merchants in Marburg. They'd manage to buy themselves a small barony and also put one of the uncles in as a cardinal. Martin Luther came around and the family saw a better deal could be had, so they gave him succor, and helped hide him for a while. Luther survived. The family prospered. We ended up backing the right guy.

Luther was a flat - out badass.

Brilliant mind, magnificent tactician, and brash as hell.

Would have made a great general.

Luther was certainly was able to grasp truisms.

Now the woke Germans and limp-wristed Lutherans fall over themselves apologizing for the guy.

That scene was well done and it was captivating.

You should educate yourself and read the Old Testament.
