Other than going hunting or fishing, I've never just took off and did anything with the guys. (Not that I want to do much else.) The Movie "Bachelor Party" comes to mind.

Some of my customers are on a "boy's night out" kinda deal and it makes me think.

A guy on in the middle ring of my fishing circles has been hosting an annual "Fish Camp" event in February. It's a guyvomly event where he rents a big house on a lake and invites a handful of buddies. Fishing, drinking and bullshitting. It's a pretty good time.

I go once a year or so with my brothers and cousins. We never hunt or fish, just vacation. Usually somewhere we can gamble at some point. Focus on just hanging out and good food, usually do the VRBO thing so we have a house. It's a super fun time, we each get to make a signature meal, we stay hydrated and make at least one trek a day to check out something unique to the area or good restaurant. It's good to get out of your element once in a while and just do something new you normally wouldn't do. I enjoy the trips a lot more than I thought I would. I highly recommend doing something like that. My wife has a ladies trip about every year too. Same results

That's what these guys are doing. Making a circuit of casinos with a fishing guide included.

We have an annual guy's weekend at my lake place every year. Mainly golfing, drinking and cigars.

And putting in and taking out the boat lifts and dock is a guys only affair. Mainly a few hours work and a lot of fishing.

I've never really understood a "man's night out" or "man trip". That's a tuesday evening, or sunday afternoon lol. Some guys NEVER do anything without their old lady. Good for them lol. Nothing says insecurity like "if my wife isn't welcome then I won't come."

I love and respect my wife and kids, and part of having a happy home is a happy mom and dad. Men are benefited by being around other men. Should be a part of life no? Why make it a special thing?

Going backpacking with a college buddy of mine in May. Haven’t seen him in about a decade and he lives on the Wis/Min line so we’re meeting in the western UP which is roughly equidistant. 5 nights and 4 days on the trail in some of the most remote country in Michigan.

Can’t wait.

I used to do the backpacking thing on portions of the A-T and side trails, coordinated loops, 3-5 days.

Was 3, sometimes 4 of us.

One guy was habitual ill-planner. He would take a loaf of bread and some peanut butter, some ramen.
No water filter, hump a gallon of water. He was great at car stereo installation and window tinting but that was it. He was miserable to be around. lol

Constant, pitiful mooch. Have to filter him some water so he could make himself some ‘crystal light’.

Bumming whiskey, bumming cigars. Bumming food, couldn’t hardly get gas money out of him. laugh

BillyGoatGruff ,

I think this is why I never married - as soon as I'd start dating a woman they seem to immediately believe they were the center of my world and that I'd entertain them my every waking moment . It would be ''what time are you getting home?'' - so they could plan my time out for me .

We use to meet up and ride [fast] motorcycles on Wednesday nights and whomever I was dating always asked ''well what am I suppose to do?''. After a bit my reply was GET A LIFE OF YOUR OWN ,, I've got hobbies that don't include you .
I'd come in the door tired from talking/explaining things all day , wanting to sit down and have a bit of peace & quiet and they knew it - but they couldn't control themselves . They'd stare my direction then ask the question that irritated hell out of me - ARE YOU MAD ABOUT SOMETHING? LAF .

Well yeah, but we'd stock up on cases of beer and cartons of smokes, cheap across the border. We'd get a hotel on the US side and walk across.

Pre-nup agreement, 1 week a year with the boys. Last 12 have been duck hunting. Would like to try elk hunting sometime.

Married 42 yrs this year. To the same women ( though she is literally twice the girl I married.)

Different strokes and all that. I have known plenty of guys with wives or girlfriends exactly like that. For them to get a night out with the guys was a real treat. That would suck to be stuck with a woman so insecure.

Flipside, some guys really don't ever want to do anything that doesn't involve their old lady. In my experience they are either old enough they had a wild time in their youth and are content to be homebodies, or are beta's ruled by their alpha wives.

By a lot of folks' standards I'm kinda hermit like. But the qualifier is I work with good buddies and get my time with other men in at work. My home time is and has always been golden to me. I live where I want instead of vacationing there once every couple years for example. I can't abide perpetual victims and whiners. Life is what you make of it. Your old lady sucks get a different one. There's kids involved? Should of used better discretion. Suck it up buttercup.
