Does anyone know where I can get a front sling stud that screws into the barrel band on my Savage 340 30-30?

Thanks Muffin but I'm looking for the sling stud that replaces that screw so I don't have to put another hole in my stock

That's available for the 99 but I'm not sure they packaged a set for the 340.

What size is the original machine screw? I have a couple of studs with 10-32 threads that might work.

MM, what do you have on the other end for a attachment? if the butt has a screwed in eyelet, the damage is already done. i understand the reluctance to add another screw.
you can get a barrel clamp on type attachment that works good on 340's. hopefully you have already solved the problem during the blackout. grin

I do have a screwed in stud on the butt end. I read somewhere that Savage once offered sling studs that screw into the barrel band on the 340's. I figured I'd poke around here and see if I get lucky before I drill a hole in the forend.

I did find one for the 340 at numrich but of course it's out of stock.

Any 10-32 stud should work from the looks of it.

Actually I just read it's a 1/4" x 28 tpi screw. So that makes it a 14-28?

That sounds way too big to me. If so, it is just as stated - 1/4 x 28 tpi.

MM, i just made a sling eye for the 340 front . pm me with yer address and i will send it to you.
you may have to put a thin washer under it . my screw hole on my 340 is so deep and abused i had to use a washer . it indexed right in mine but who knows. they are savages after all.
