Just gathering knowledge on the air-gun-industry and have a pellet question:
Are .20 pellets "on the way out", similar to what happened to 16-guage-shotguns, or are they a reasonable alternative if your rifle-of-choice can be ordered in that config, and you like the speed/trajectory/energy they provide for your application?

I’ve had a .20 for 30 years. You can find them but there not as plentiful as they used to be.
And yes I like the 5mm!

I think there will always be a supply.
Only one I used......Crosman Premier 14.3 dome..........though the Beeman Crow Mag shot awfully good as well.

Another vote for those Beeman Crow Magnum .20 caliber pellets. Wish that I had known about them back when I was a kid and shooting my Sheridan a whole bunch. DRT never happened much with the standard Sheridan domed pellets, but those Crow Magnums really grew up that pellet gun.
My other auto is a .45

My favorite current production 20 is a JSB exact 13.7 gr. in a Beeman Crow Magnum rifle.
The 20 is not as popular as it was 10 years ago that's for sure, I loved the Crosman Premiers but they are long gone.
Competitions like Field Target and Olympic shooting are typically.177 as the international standard.
The European countries restrict air rifles to 12ft. lb energy unless you want to pay for a firearm license to go with your higher power air rifle...
PCPs can handle 22, 25 and larger pellets so why get a limited selection 20 when there's a bunch of the bigger pellets for them?
If I were buying a 20 right now because I loved it or got a screaming deal on one, I'd buy 4-5 thousand pellets, NOW.

Good point.........I did not know the Premiers were gone.......did Crosman discontinue 20 cal domes?
JSBs are money..........never heard a bad thing about them, any of them.

Its a fair question...
I have just one, an R9 in .20, and I like it plenty.
But there have been a few times that I'vee wished it were a .177, both to better match its power range and to make feeding it cheaper & easier.
In a rifle with a little more pop, I think a .20 would be really interesting: light .22 pellet weights with less drag.
In my R9 its practical advantage over .177 is weight, but I'm not sure what its advantage over .22 would be. It should be trajectory and retained energy but I'm not sure it works that way.
I don't really have enough knowledge about it to have a solid opinion though.
I do know that I've been looking for some 13.7 JSBs without much luck for months now. I picked a bad time to get back into airguns!

Well, for whoever is interested, Airguns of Arizona has some Daystate pellets that are made by JSB.
I assume that they are equal in quality, and AoA ships them ground for free. Just bought a few tins.
If my rifle likes them I'll have to stock up.

I thought the .20 Crow Magnum pellets had been out of production for several years. Are they being made again?

No, they are not making Crow magnum .20 cal pellets.
I was speaking of shooting a Beeman Crow Magnum RIFLE with JSB Exacts 13.7 gr pellets.
If you have a .20 cal you might want to stock up on quality pellets while they are being made....
