Building a SA Tikka in either 6mm Creedmoor or 6GT. I know the 6GT will feed in the AICS.

Is it a known good in the CTR mags?

AICS is single stack, CTR double stack.

Any advantages to one vs the other?

Both type mags are plentiful

I had a 6mm Creed that would feed fine out of an AICS mag. I don't know if I had a unicorn or not as my sample size was 1 gun and 2 mags.
I have a CTR 260 and it feeds great with factory mags.
I have thought about switching everything to AICS mags just to keep things simple. Pmag's are a cheaper way to fly than true AICS mags. True AICS vs CTR mags are close to the same price if you look around some.
I have not done the swap to only one type of mag just because, if it ain't broke don't fix it, kind of thinking.

I love the tikka factory mags. never had an issue. AICS mags in remington clones work fine. I just don't appreciate how they rattle unless mag is full.

Can you convert a Tikka from a magazine to an internal box magazine like my 700 SPS? I hate the idea of losing a magazine in the bush.

Can you use a LA bolt stop? I did this with a couple of 7mm-08s so I could load 150 eldx long. I use LA mags and it works great.

CTR mags are shorter due to double stack, and also have a very long internal length, so it doesn’t hang low and it does allow long seating depths. I prefer the CTR mags.

you can run mdt mags in ctr bottom metal with about 3 minutes with a sanding block. magpul work as well but you either need to open up the receiver on the bottom or take down some of the width on the feedlips on the mags.

don't see why you'd run aics bottom metal unless you wanted to run metal aics 5 rounders expressly.

Square peg eventually fits in a round hole too. MDT poly is no go in the CTR bottom metal but I reckon I could hit it hard enough with a hammer. Vice versa not a chance.

My 1911 mags fit in both.

I'd slowwwwww down and think Mechanics, from start to finish and simply connect them dots. Hint.

What stock are you using? What barrel contour are you using? What's the platform's application(s)? Hint.

I personally could not formulate a single reason,to opt CTR mags,as they are proprietary bullschit. The Gay Tiger will be happily housed in AICS,along with Seex International(.473"),XC and all of the spawn from BR...up the relative case length scale to 243/243AI,etc. The choice in AICS DBM mag footprint COAL latitude alone,is huge and oft overlooked. I just "happen" to shoot a goodly smattering of chamberings,in said bore size. Hint.

So narrow the above down and then particulars can be extrapolated. Hint..................
