Diggin out some of the old camo bins buried in my basement and came across one of my old turkey hunting vests. Used to have the matching coveralls, but those lost an argument with a barbwire fence years ago. It's the 10X with the 5 turkey subspecies on it. Things in excellent condition too! Out of curiosity, looked it up on eBay and found a couple that sold, that's sold, for $150 plus shipping! Maybe I'll go through the rest of my old camo! Lol!

I have had a few pairs of bibs that lost the fight with a barb wire fence. I wish I knew how many times my grandma has sewn up a pair of bibs or coveralls for me because of this.

I'm just glad the coveralls were the only "thing" that got shredded that day! Lol!

I've got 4 0r 5 old vests. Seem to have a fetish for them. Still looking for one that will levitate me a bit to save wear and tear on these old legs

I love spring gobbler hunting but never been cool enough to have a vest. Need one with the built in cushion. Does it not bother you to walk with that thing hanging off your bottom?

The cushion folds up to your back level and snaps in place. Only hanging off your bottom if you don't snap it up!

That is a cool vest indeed, I had one Just like it back in the day, They are simple vests that have all the pockets you really need without being too busy...As for the cushion? The first thing I do with any new turkey hunting vest is throw that thing in the trash bin😁.....Good hunting...Hb

I just gave one of those to a youth hunter for his first season chasing gobblers. I put a crow call and a slate w/striker in the vest along with a spray can of permanone.

I like the simpler old school vests. The newer Tacticool ones have so many pockets I can't find calls and other stuff quickly. I will wear one like that or an older waxed cotton one this season. I am mixed on the cushion thing. Great when you need it but I usually have some kind of chair or seat. One of mine has an option for its own strap which I wear as a sling and I think this is a good arraignment. I don't have to take the vest off to use like on some vests.

That original real tree almost looks like a photo of an older Oak tree, it led me to find out that when you have your back against a tree the 3.5" magnum loads have a pretty healthy recoil.

Soon I'll get after them waiting for things to heat up around here, a little slow now. Any day now.

For years I just used a brown upland game vest, then became a sophisticated turkey hunter with the purchase of Hunter Specialties (HS) Strut vest in Realtree Edge. It has a couple of creature comforts, padded back and triangle seat. Plus, a detachable sling.

Dean, I have used the same 10X vest for years. Every year I think I need to look at the new vests. Then I decide there's nothing that's really going to replace the functionality and simplicity of the 10X. It's like having a favorite pair of old slippers! 😊

This vest has moved on to another turkey hunter that'll use it and not just sit in a tote. I agree that the new ones just aren't the same, too expensive, too extravagant, too... lol! I like very simple equipment for my style of turkey hunting, run and gun, constantly on the move and reacting to different situations. No blind, no seat, used downfalls, brush whatever, even just standing next to a tree sometimes like happened last year. Had to shoot the Tom in self defense he came in so fast! I had forgotten all about this vest until cleaning out the tote it was in, been using a very simple, early, Mossy Oak vest. Snaps on the detachable cushion are ripped and don't snap anymore, very well worn, still not interested in replacing it. Good luck to all heading out this spring, be safe and enjoy!

Dean's vest is akin to a fall gray phase, whereas roundoak's is a spring bright green.

Which raises the question: turkeys' eyesight is very keen, but do they see colors? We've been told innumerable times that deer are colorblind, but what about turkeys?

Birds see colors and UV wavelengths. Not sure to what extent they see colors but I think it is better than we do.
