Get in and someone already parked in vehicle still.
Go talk to guy.
350 pd on the hoof easy.

Ask him where you are going so I dont step on ya.
He says I been parked here for an hour.
I ask where are you going so I dont bump into you and mess you up.

I say Im going back up the road about 700 yds and gonna go down in a back corner on some reverse slopes on a feild

Then he says well I was gonna probably do that.

Im like ok I will go down this road about 900 yds to the pines and set up down their.

He says I might move down their if I hear a bird.

I say so you plan on running and gunning( 350 pd,r)
And no matter where I say i would like to go.
You are gonna come up with a plan based off what I do right off the cuff....
Gives me a funny look..

I say Im just gonna set up my dekes in the corner back east and not move and I will be 800+ yds away from you and you got 600 plus acres to run and gun if you hear a bird to yourself.

I said good luck hunting and left...........

As the crow flies I am probably 1200 meters from where he was parked diagonal across the field / airfield glide path for LZ Heavy Beast.

Aint heard a bird yet or "Frank Cannon" out trying to locate a bird with any type of call to run and gun and get set up on.

I'd say he's not going to get too far from a food source.

Not alot of areas open
4 or 5.

This is a close in area by a main road

Normally hunt other areas 20 35 mins further west and north.
Get away from people and less pressured areas.

Dave Owens had an episode where a guy tried to bluff him off a spot he had scouted out and reached first. The guy had placed a blind there prior to the season and thought that gave him ownership. First come, first serve. There are deerstands all over the WMA I hunt, but the person first on the scene has the floor. No way to tell if someone’s gonna show or not. Get yer azz outta bed!

I dont mind sitting till 930 1000ish watching over dekes in a field given the storms that came thru last night.

Been alot of logging of 50 70 yr old mature pine stands and bushing hogging of 5 7 yr old overgrown fields in certain areas on post.

86ing alot of Roosting spots and brushy nesting areas.
This is one of the areas that has been hit.
It does affect the habitat for turkeys.
But the logged out areas also spring up alot of new growth browse the deer are drawn too for 3 to 5 yrs after.
Has its plus and minus benefits....

Ya gotta register your firearms with the provost marshall/ fed cops on post to hunt.
I got 3 on my sheet.
835 for turkey
930 for dove and small game
Savage 220 for Deer.


It has actually deterred alot of people hunting on post and the background check non affiliated civilains have to do has also deterred alot also.


Bout up till 8 yrs ago when they put in the policy of wpns reg and background check alot of slim shady types were hunting on post.


Geuss if your clean and got nothing to hide policy.
Then you can hunt on the military fed land.
