Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious diseases expert, on Tuesday said he is confident the mass vaccination effort underway in the United States will prevent another "explosion" of coronavirus cases and a fourth deadly wave of the pandemic.

"As long as we keep vaccinating people efficiently and effectively, I don't think that's gonna happen," Fauci said of a fourth wave during an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "That doesn't mean that we're not going to still see an increase in cases."

Fauci said it will "remain to be seen" if there is an uptick in cases or if it will "explode into a real surge" as more states reopen their economies and relax public health guidelines.

“I think that the vaccine is gonna prevent that from happening," he said.

The number of new Covid-19 cases has plateaued at a "disturbingly high level," and the US is at risk from a new surge, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned on Wednesday.
While lower than the peak earlier this year, there were still more than 61,000 new cases reported on Wednesday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. And the lack of continued significant decreases in infections is a concern, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases told CNN's Anderson Cooper, particularly given the spread of variants.

He sure does NOT like to mention the veracity or lack thereof these new cases bring, hospitalizations etc

After he gave the first info on April 6th, he was obviously given a dressing down and told that statement did not support the government "narrative"......got to keep the people scared and under control.....

Fraudci is an international embarrassment. He got some notoriety/fame when President Trump let him prattle on about the scamdemic and now he wants to hang on to his newfound fame/power(?).

Fauci is akin to the weather guy on tv. He can be dead wrong on his forecasts and just look out the window and tell you what it's doing now and he is considered brilliant by many.

Sounds like a Weatherman, 50% chance of increased cases coming, ie, they either will or they won't.

If they're basing "new cases" on positive tests results & not actual active cases with symptoms, then yes, as more people are vaccinated, more will test positive.............for some period, at best, as getting the vaccination generates that kind of result.

Fauci long ago lost track of what he said the day before or where the truth & reality, if there are such things, lie.

I'll admit, I'm slow. BUTTTTTTTTT!!! Is anyone really surprised there's a {slight} uptick in cases and younger 12-19 yo kids are now showing signs of rapid infection by the new "variant"?? Really, this is shocking it's occurring like 2 weeks after 2/3 of the country returned from spring break?

I told my wife last night - -spring break is just wrapping up now, I bet Florida numbers go down in 3 weeks.
