My half Pitbulls kills snakes instantly. She moves on them like lightning, and snaps their heads off so fast you can't perceive the movement. It's an amazing sight. They don't stand a chance.

After reading and participating in this thread yesterday, I talked to my brother last night. Yeller struck again. He was raising hell down at the creek bottom. Tim walked down to see what he had bayed up just in time to see the dog grab a copperhead and kill it.

My brother said that he never knew there were so many copperheads around his house till he got a dog that loved killing them.

I'd have put her down if she appeared to be in tremendous pain but she didn't, she just laid there looking at me.

Swelling started going down on the afternoon of the third day, by that evening she was up and about.
Fourth day she was 100% back to her rambunksious self.

Go figure.

friends lab got bit by a copperhead, same thing, swollen head for a few days, good after that.

I guess I do alright at the snake training... You cannot run fast enough to touch either dog with a snake now. grin

They know the word "snake!" too. I associate it with their training.

If they are snooping in a thicket, I say "You better get out of there, there may be a snake in there!" and they promptly leave that area. smile

do you use an e collar for training them?
